A new Bruin plaque at The Coliseum?
From the LA Times "Newswire" column in today's Sports, Aug. 11, 2009.
Rafer Johnson, 1960 Olympic decathlon champion and a longtime Olympic activist in Los Angeles, was given his own bronzed plaque in the Coliseum's peristyle end. Johnson, the former UCLA star, was the final torch-runner and lit the flame in the opening ceremonies of the 1984 Games.
The plaque is a depiction of Johnson carrying a torch, but it is also surrounded by seven symbols that include many of the events he competed in when he won his gold medal in Rome.

Comer4tide to Nico2.0: "How come I've never heard of any of your random songs?"
Todd to Comer: "Because if you had, he wouldn't listen to it. BOOM. Roasted."
Nico to Todd: "Shouldn't you be off voguing somewhere?"

Besides not being able to spell the #1 anti-Christ thus far in history. . . .
. . . you must have recently graduated from the SoCal School of Deduction. I mean, FTW?
Hilter (good one) & R Johnson & logic seem incongruent on this thread. (you drankin’? IT’S 9 o’clock. . .in the AM son!)

I think Mao or Stalin were worse, but that’s just me.

Despite what you may have heard
You are not a mass murdering SOB for 4 years. That’s a lifetime thing.
If you are making the comparison to O.J. Simpson, I don’t believe that O.J.s body count puts him in the same boat with Hitler or Stalin. But since you mention it, yes O.J. still is a Trojan for life. There is nothing that we can do to disown the guy. Its not like you guys will ever let us forget that he went to USC, so there ya go.
Also, its not like ucla hasn’t had criminals and murderers come out of their football program. We all know who they are. The biggest difference between our murder and your murder is that our guy was a hall of famer.

Oh, thanks to frak
Now I get it. Simple-minded comments. But from you, Pablo? Wow! Thought you were “up above it”. Boy was I mistaken.
I don’t think you wanna take pot-shots from the peanut gallery dude. We can strike from all areas of the field homegrown. You’d best be advised to back the f_ck up, before you get “smacked the f_ck-up”. (and I mean that in strictly a “smack-talkin” way).
You’re losing it yourpaulv, eat some Wheaties/have some V8? Come to your senses, my nizzle. (what’s that you use: “phail” . . . . .weak)

Simmer down hot pants, I’m just saying I’ve never heard of technically Bruins only for 4 years. I’m a firm believer that you’re a Trojan or a Bruin for life. Of course, I’m sure you guys see it differently…

You bringin' OJ into the mix
Is a firestartin’ conversation.
Never heard of “Bruin for life”. Never.

When’d I bring OJ into the mix? Frak said OJ, I said “Hilter”.
And have you seen the “A Trojan is only good once, a Bruin is forever” tee-shirts? Agree or disagree with them, they’re floating around.
BL: I was making a light hearted dig, sorry you got a little hurt about it. Rafer Johnson is a great American and a great Bruin. Totally deserves this recognition at our formerly shared stadium & the site of the twilight/cherry of his fame.

You say Hilter, frak says OJ
Then you really make no sense whatsover.
My original question still stands then, what does Hilter have to do with Rafer Johnson? And, for that matter, USC sports, the Coliseum, or whatever in this regard?
And no, I haven’t seen the shirts nor heard of the phraseology of which you refer to.
No one said Rafer Johnson didn’t deserve his plaque, as a matter of fact I think the world of Rafer Johnson. No one’s disputed his place at the Coliseum at all.
What’s the lighthearted dig? I don’t get it.

I thought that was what you were getting at
with the whole not convicted comment. If I was wrong, then I apologize.
As for the 4 years comment. Its a well known phrase:
“You’re a bruin for 4 years, but you’re a Trojan for life.”
A lot of interpretation can go into it, but it gets brought up pretty much because Trojan’s tend to help out other Trojans after they graduate. ucla is not known for its alumni network.

BINGO!
That’s why I got such a kick out of your reply to hespaulv’s comment.
So, still. . . . .wtf’s up with his Hilter not being a mass murderer ‘cause he wasn’t convicted business? Thought he was imbibing or doing something too much or not enough of when he wrote that.
Do you get it?

Can't say that I get the Hitler comment
I know it was a joke. I don’t know if I would make a joke about Hitler because its touchy subject matter. I tend to have a dark sense of humor, but sometimes the dark jokes tend to hit a little too close to home.
