Cool info, great cause!
I like the fact that it’s a 5 week program for “at risk” inner city youth- the age criteria is crucial (9-12 year olds) and so is the timing of the program involvement (summer time). On point, I don’t know about you all, but at 9 – 12. . . .I WAS A TOTAL ‘HOOD’. I got in the most trouble at those ages in my life. If it wasn’t loitering, it was skateboarding, if it wasn’t “jacking” stuff from other kids, it was beating up other kids. . .the list went on for me. And. . . .it happened when I had practically no authority figure to guide me throughout my days as they were spent “hustling” basketball courts, fields (baseball, football, soccer or lacrosse), or gyms. The summertime? The bane of my pre-adolescence. (what’s the saying? "The devil WILL FIND WORK for idle hands to do?)
There was also info to interview Riki Ellison to find out more about the YIP program?

Todd to Comer: "Because if you had, he wouldn't listen to it. BOOM. Roasted."
Nico to Todd: "Shouldn't you be off voguing somewhere?"

Hearing ya SoCal
Two of my best homies are locked up. (one, just recently too. . . .2 kids- Harley-guy, not into the HA’s or Mongols though). 3 others died before 21. The last two- one graduated from Morehouse (3 yrs starter, RB, lettered in basketball too- non-starter); the other became a Santa Clara County Sherrif (OF ALL THINGS????). Total ese’s back in the day!

It's funny but I never got over losing a friendship due to race, but it happen.
My friend was Mexican american and when we turned 11 we went are separate gang ways, after that it was hey at school and never associate again. Pier pressure really can suck.

I like the program and with the Tennis Facilities you would think they would put together a grassroots program
This could be sponsored by the USTA and would get more under privileged youth involve in tennis. I know for one I would make myself available to be their, it would be great for the community and the usa in general.
