The Rey-Rey and U-Block links were two of the best links for the day.

Reading about how well Rey is doing both on and off the field for the Bengals D and community of Cincinnati is just remarkable. Prior to the draft, there were many things written about Rey’s ability on the field (that he can’t cover an avg. TE on passing plays/and the misperception that he over-shoots the draws and end-arounds) and lack of intelligence because of his low Wonderlic score. That he didn’t obtain the individual stats or consistently make the plays like he did in the Rose Bowl victory of Illinois somehow changed the opinion of many sportswriters, bloggers, “haters”, and- miraculously – some Trojan fans, as well. I never quite understood that. I understand that Rey has yet to play a down of NFL-football, so in that regard, it would be presumptuous of me to be critical of his detractors at this time. However, it’s my contention that most of his critics still can’t let go of viewing Rey through the disappointing lens of his sophomore transgressions and behavior. It’s another classic case of people having an argument with the character of the man, rather than fairly debating his ability as a linebacker on the field of play. I have no doubt in my mind, that Rey Muauluga will become a very good NFL player- same goes for Mark Sanchez, Kevin Ellison, Fili Moala, David Buehler, and Kyle Moore, other Trojan players whose football abilities and potential to succeed in the NFL were roundly questioned in the days leading up to this year’s NFL draft. Will these ex-Trojans become immediate starters? Will any of these players be Pro Bowlers? Without hesitation, I say- “I don’t know”. Anyone who is certain of their respective future, or claim to have an accurate prediction of their success or failure as professional football players, is a lunatic. And categoric-liar.

The U-Block post covering expanding the Pac-10 conference by inviting the Utah Utes into their fold is EPIC, as well as enjoyably entertaining. There are some really really intellectually intense commenters posting their opinions on that piece. It is a definite must-read! Seriously, that post alone, would qualify as a class-lecture for a Sports Management course. No joke. There’s a lot to glean from that read. (suggestion: ev, Canard, JazzyUte, and MeanBobMean are in a total battle over there. Read THEIR stuff! I just became aware of ev, Canard, and Jazzy- Mean Bob Mean is a familiar poster over at Roll Bama Roll. He’s a badass! . . . . .ah, the Utes of today?)
