Bullshit...

While I strongly feel UCLA could/should have done better it has to be noted that Brad Delson is a MUCH better choice.

1) He’s done something (I’d say a Comms degree & self-made multi-millionaire is something)
2) He’s an enthusastic UCLA alum/supporter. He’s established a scholarship to help his towntown residents attend UCLA, he donates both time and money to the school.

That website is FUCKING STUPID. Brad Delson entered UCLA as a Regent Scholar, was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and graduated summa cum laude. Did you graduate summa cum laude? I sure as hell didn’t. Maybe this “gawker” website should learn to use the google/wikipedia box…

. . . .I like and endorse Brad Delson. He’s not anyone to thumb your nose at. Great choice, because he’s a crazy humanitarian, insanely intelligent, terminally gifted, and has done nothing but bring pride to the Bruin faithful. He’s definitely the kind of Bruin I’d like to be friends with. Not just because I like Linkin Park. . . .because he’d be a hoot pulling back a few and the conversations to be had with a guy like that?

Yeah, I’d still prefer someone a little more distinguished, but like I’ve said, it’s not my party & Delson is a much better choice than Franco. It’s almost night and day between the 2.

Well

Dexter Holland was a Phd candidate, and and has a masters degree in molecular biology, but I wouldn’t say his success with The Offspring is a good reason to make him a commencement speaker since his punk band really has nothing to do with his degree.

However I do agree with you that Delson is a better choice than Franco.
