I liken our “Floyd/Mayo situation” to that of a close relative or friend who foolishly created an auto-accident while driving impaired. You know they shouldn’t have been doing what they were, more than likely doing, before the shit hit the fan. You feel totally pained by what’s occurred and by what’s to come. You’re sorry for them for making these foolish choices/decisions. You wished they hadn’t done so. You wish they hadn’t caused such misery to all involved. And you hope and wish that things will turn out for the better or that they’ll make the world around them better in the future.

Take care Coach! Time heals most all wounds, and as for me- I’ve already forgiven you, no matter what our penalties are or what we (as an institution) must try to do to get out and over this. You’ll be remembered by THIS PARTICULAR TROJAN as a great Coach, great man, a horrendous manager of oversight, and an ultimate romantic to believe your demeanor and trust of people would cause you no harm.

We’ll remember the crazy wins, the stellar runs, the miraculous conference championship tourney, the honoring of our fallen, and the pride you had given to us in the teams you put on the floor. Trojan for life, fits you as well as anyone. For me, that is.
