"That's really the whole thing: who do you believe?" Salerno told The Associated Press on Wednesday. "Tim Floyd had a motive to pay O.J. Mayo to get there. Louis really doesn't have any motives. He doesn't have an ax to grind against Tim Floyd."
Some people sue a doctor to get at the company of a faulty medical device, this is no different. This is Johnson's way of getting back at Guillory and Mayo. Yeah, he doesn't have an axe to grind...not at all.

Does it really matter what Johnson's motives are?
If he’s telling the truth then it doesn’t matter what his motives are. Imagine how many scandals don’t make the news because everyone upheld their ends of the deal. The real questions are:
Why the hell would Tim Floyd even let Rodney Guillory close to the basketball program with prior knowledge of Rodney’s past as a runner for a sports agency?
Why the hell would Tim even be meeting Rodney alone outside a cafe in Beverly Hills?
Why the hell would Tim let Rodney hang around team locker rooms, practices, and meetings?
and so on….
I’m sorry folks but even if Floyd did not break any NCAA rules, he shouldn’t be having a character as shady as Rodney near his program for the sake of one player. Sooner or later you’re going to have bad publicity. I don’t care if Floyd violated any NCAA rules or not, just the fact he could risk our basketball team and school’s reputation for the sake of meeting the needs of one star player by letting a scum bag like Rodney near his program, shows bad judgment on his part. Personally I wouldn’t want a coach with a “winning at all costs” mentality coaching any team at USC. FLOYD NEEDS TO GO!
Another issue that no one seems to bring up is Mike Garret. The man shares the blame for allowing Floyd to have Rodney near the basketball program. Either his management style is to let the coaches run their own show, or he knows damn well the risks associated with letting characters like Rodney near any USC sideline. If the first management style holds true, then we should be demanding that Mike step down as A.D. for lack of institutional control. If the second management style holds true, then we should be demanding that Mike step down for bringing the “winning at all cost” culture to our athletic program. Simple as that folks, the buck stops at the top.

I really like your take your take on things, Ghost of Aeneas
Of “The Aeneas” of Trojan lore?
I wholeheartedly agree on the Garrett 1993 – 2009 tenure coming to a crashing halt sometime soon, to a theater near you. Seriously, Mike Garrett has got to go.
I was thinking that the school and Coach Floyd would weather through this initial haze of bad publicity, but watching USC faculty, alumni, student and fans revolt in unison against the Athletic Department official response and culpability- Coach Floyd wouldn’t resign, nor would Garrett or would Garrett refuse to fire Floyd. In the end, I see Garrett going first, and Timmeh shown the door less than 2 weeks later.
We are gonna get hammered!

Yeah the Aeneas of Trojan lore. Pretty cool how you can read all about it on Wikipedia.

Guillory was a "father figure" to Mayo....
so, how can you tell Mayo that he can’t spend time with his figurative father? USC could have, and probably should have, decided to pass on Mayo just because Guillory was involved. But, Mayo was cleared by the NCAA and SC’s compliance, so if you think Mayo is clean and you offer him a scholie, then you have to allow Mayo to hang out with the man closest to him in his life, right?
I think we are getting our chains yanked by believing anything that Anthony Salerno says. He is a criminal defender of the lowliest of scumbags. His client is in hot water with the Feds since he took payments from Guillory’s fraudulent charity. Defense attorneys are professional liars, and Salerno is doing everything he can to point fingers at others in defense of his client. DO NOT BELIEVE ANYTHING that Salerno or Johnson say. They are desperate as Guillory and Johnson are both looking at some serious time in federal prison for the charity fraud.
Floyd and USC have been implicated by a desperate defense attorney. Besides, OJ Mayo had already signed his LOI with USC, so why would Floyd pay Guillory after that? Plus, Guillory was getting funded by BDA sports to the tune of hundreds of thousands.
This is all one big lie, and we are suckers for believing any of this fabricated story. Just what Salerno hoped would happen.
