[UPDATED] Confirmed DeRozan headed to the NBA
Not really shocking if true...
From Fox Sports
USC freshman DeMar DeRozan is expected to sign with an agent and forgo his final three years of college eligibility. The athletic 6-foot-5 wing will also declare for the NBA draft, according to a source close to the program.DeRozan came out of the gates slow but finished the season strong and averaged 13.9 points and 5.7 rebounds as a freshman.
He's considered by NBA executives as a virtual lock to be taken in the top 15 and could even be chosen in the top five.
Who goes with him is the bigger question.
UPDATE: The OCR is confirming that DeRozan has declared himself eligible for the draft.
USC freshman forward DeMar DeRozan has delcared for the NBA draft, DeRozan confirmed in a telephone conversation.
DeRozan said he sent his paperwork to the league today. He added that he has not hired an agent yet and will decide whether to in the next couple of days. “It’s 50-50,” he said.
DeRozan said the primary factor in going pro was being able to help his family.
“I’m in a great position to give help to my family in a lot of ways,” he said. “And I feel like I’m ready to take my game to the next level.”
Laughing Stock noted in the Fan Posts that it appears that Taj may be returning for his senior season.
We'll see how it all shakes out...

No surprise
I think we’re okay as long as Hackett stays.
You know what? Fuck you Sports Gods, fuck you.
I'll tell you vexes me to no end
THAT EARLY ENTRY BALLERS HIRE AN AGENT TO BEGIN WITH.
I mean, I understand:
1. If you’re gonna go, go big and get that representation and MAKE IT REAL.
2. A would be pro NEEDS an agent to go over every word on every line and make changes/amendments so that the would-be pro doesn’t get worked.
But, you won’t need an agent until AFTER the draft concludes!!!!!
Then, THEN if you do get drafted AND drafted in a desired position to maximize your potential initial contract return- then sure. Get the best agent.
But would if you get drafted in the 3rd or lower rounds? You’re up shit creek without a mask or paddle.
Go DeRozan, all the power to you. Don’t hire an agent yet though. If you’re in the top half of the 1st round. Oh, you going to need one brotha!
If you get picked in the 2nd round? Back out, you’d be stupid to go pro. When you can come back, take ‘SC to the Final Four, become a household name and get taken as a true-blue lottery pick! And. . . . .you’d still be educating yourself and quite possibly go down in the (what was it again DFW? annals? grotto? hallowed-history?) record books of being the PLAYER AND CATALYST as it pertains to the beginnings of USC basketball LORE.

I would think
that a franchise in the NBA would be less likely to waste a draft pick on a player that hasn’t put a definitive end to his college career. If he is wishy washy about going pro, why take the risk.
His Mother is Sick
…..per LAT. Can’t fault the kid for trying to provide for his mother. Too bad. I’m afraid that he will be a mid-first round pick, maybe not a lottery pick. And, his game is so raw that he’ll have to ride the bench for a few years before he plays. I hope he can improve and stick in the Association. Hopefully, Taj will stay, and I think he will be a more valuable returning player anyway. We’re going to have some nice PFs and SFs next season to replace DeRo.
Gee why in the heck doesn't SC give the family of players medical, I mean it is no skin off their back.
This world is beginning to really suck!

Don't think the NCAA would go for something like that.
You know what? Fuck you Sports Gods, fuck you.
I think SoCal meant. . .
. . . .“everything being on the up and up”, all things considered. Not “backdoor” or any tom-foolery like that, am I right SoCal?

His mother has lupus
Geeze louise, that’s a big fat bummer. This is one of the more insidious and destructive- NOT TO MENTION PAINFUL diagnoses to be burdened with! I know this disease up close.
Here’s hoping the DeRozan family comes through fine. 95% of the time, they don’t. Quality of life is severely hampered by those afflicted. And did I mention the pain, therapy, and pain?
May God bless that family and may she receive the best support doctors, family and friends can ONLY provide for her. Sheesh! Go DeRozan, and get your mother the best care possible.
