And that is that...

Sidney signs with Mississippi St.

Renardo Sidney, the 6-foot-10 McDonald's basketball All-American from Fairfax High, has signed a letter of intent at Mississippi State, Bulldogs Coach Rick Stansbury announced today.

Sidney, considered the No. 2 power forward in the nation by Scout.com, averaged 24.8 points and 11.2 rebounds while helping Fairfax advance to the state tournament, where the Lions upset Santa Ana Mater Dei but were later defeated by state champion Westchester.

Good for him, I hope he qualifies and is successful. MSU is obscure enough that I doubt anyone will bother trying to dig up any dirt on Sidney.

Moving on...

I can't believe the above posted???

I was about to delete the whole comment, I highlighted the title, it went blue, hit my delete button. . . .BLAMMO! It posted!

I realize that SMQ/Doc Saturday is a Southern Miss fan. Not Miss State. Scratch the above.

Damn, you had to mention him didn't you LS?

Now that’s a PG we could use next year. Any idea as to his development thus far at Southern Miss.? I’m sure he was prevented from playing for them this past year, but what’s that guy up to?

Wow I remember Chris Pencilrose saying he didn't go to class at SC, I guess he found a staff that was willing to work with him.

You know what happen to coach’s like Stan Morrison who are willing to work with a kid to help get a degree.

From what I've heard...

Angelo was not going to be academically eligible and lost the APR points when he left because he was not eligible for the fall semester.

FYI, the way APR works is that a school gets 1 point if the player is eligible and 1 point if the player stays at the school and is on track to graduate. If a player leaves to play professionally, but they are still academically eligible (e.g. OJ Mayo, Davon Jefferson) the school doesn’t lose any points.

…At least, this was how it was explained to me by someone who works with student-athletes at SC.

And Bix, I have no idea how Angelo Johnson is doing, but I get the feeling that he could have a very nice year for the Golden Eagles. It may take him a bit to get his sea legs back (hardwood legs???), but you can bet that I’ll be following his progress.

Is the reason we didn't get Sidney...

because Garrett is afraid of the NCAA with the whole Bush/Mayo investigation?

Just read la-times sydney article, DON'T feel he will even play at MSU

This kid was living in a 4-5,000 a month home in Hancock Park and all the Step father did was coach aau team. The mother was his personal assistant, before they moved to california the dude worked at a medical center he helped patience’s being moved around like push a wheel chair. The reason that Sonny told him no europe is that Sonny of a Bitch is no longer with Reebok-Adidas. http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-renardo-sidney4-2009may04,0,7288595,print.story

Yahoo has a story on Sidney

Now the rumor is that Sidney’s dad was hinting about being paid if his kid were to sign. Don’t know if that was with ucla or USC, but it seems like this kids dad is bad news.
