USC No Longer Recruiting Renardo Sidney

Bumped and edited...too important not to... Paragon

Take a look at this article from Andy Katz.

The Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday that Renardo Sidney earned a qualifying SAT score.

But he won't be playing at USC. A source close to the program confirmed that the Trojans are officially no longer recruiting Sidney, who had verbally committed to USC. The decision, according to the source, came from within the administration. UCLA also backed off in its recruitment of the 6-foot-9 power forward out of Fairfax High (Calif.) in a similar fashion, even though there was a strong chance the Bruins were going to land Sidney prior to him committing to USC.

I think this is for the best as it appears as though the administration had determined something was not quite up to snuff. It looks as though USC may be in for a bit of a rebuilding season, but with the incoming talent, newly eligible personnel, and the return of a few key reserves along with Dwight Lewis you just never know.

Also, head on over to USC Hoops to read some of The Sleuth's thoughts (FYI: The Sleuth is the web admin for the site). It sure has been one heck of a rollercoaster since the Pac 10 tournament started huh?

Good move by SC

Sidney is trouble and I wouldn’t advise any program to take him, let alone one already under investigation.

Marcus Johnson???? Interesting. . . .

. . . .that he put his name in the draft, as a back-up plan just in case he doesn’t get clearance from the NCAA for a 5th year.

Looks like Alex Stepheson, Kid Euro, “Elbows” Leo, Marcus Simmons, and incoming Noel Johnson will have to take the reigns in the forwards/centers spots.

Wow. Just wow. Topsy turvy off season for sure.

He's got to be dirty

Rye is right, we don’t need any threat of a scandal with the Mayo and Bush investigations still open. This guy sounded like trouble, and it looks like Mike Garrett finally saw the potential damage that a kid like this could cause.

I third the motion as I have always felt since 2006 that sidney was a money and product taker

I have seen this in tennis when some guys I played with and against would sell the equipment and ask for more

Thanks Paragon

I was going to add a quote, but it completely slipped my mind when I posted it.

Also, sorry about the lack of writing lately, finals have hit me pretty hard and we had a training exercise this past weekend that basically ate up Thursday through Sunday.

Must be a good move

I’m just kind of curious as to why any school (MSU) would take the kid now that SC and UCLA have performed deep dives and uncovered issues? To be optimistic, it is great that our admin finally took a hard stand on a recruit, rather than rolling the dice. I wish Floyd and the staff could address the volatile offseason, but alas, I know they are not allowed to talk about recruits. Maybe when signing period is over in May?

Also, did you hear that we offered PG Dominique O’Connor? Next season is a toss up? How much will Leonard improve? How good will Alex be? Will Dwight take over as team leader? Will a PG step up? Way more questions than answers at this point.

You heard Correctly

USC has offered DOC. I think that he may be a little underrated, but don’t be surprised if it takes a year or two before he is ready to contribute on a high level.

THE FUNNY THING IS!

Back when TF decided to test waters at ZONA if he had gone the story was how player would stay. Now that he is staying, Taj, DH, DR,HILL, DARRA, MONTE, and now SYDNEY. Maybe M Cooper is really coming in to coach the guys.

Now that's just mean!

I happen to think our girls team is chock-full of beauties. Each and everyone of them. Now Coach Cooper, didn’t he win a WNBA championship with the Sparks? The man knows how to coach.

Ohhhhh! you meant. . . .
