Love this Pick

Ellison reminds me of Rodney Harrison. This is a great team for him. They say he was a low draft pick because he ran a 4.8, but he ran a 4.65 pre-knee injury. I wonder if he will regain some of that speed as time goes by? Regardless, he is smart, tough, physical football player, and I bet he carves out a nice niche for himself as a Charger. Fight on, K-El!

I will always remember

that hit he put on DeSean Jackson that turned off his lights. Oh that was sweet.

3 Knee Injuries

I had forgotten that Ellison had 3 total knee surgeries at SC. That, plus his now questionable speed as a result of the injuries, plus the changing NFL defensive schemes all hurt Ellison. The link below is a John Clayton blurb about the phasing out of NFL in-the-box safeties. Similar reason to why Rey slipped in the draft too, I think. All off the line defensive players these days need to be good at pass coverage. 10 years ago, Ellison and Rey would have gone much higher in the draft.
