USC Baseball

I know you guys don't pay a great amount of attention to USC baseball, but you may want to start keeping an eye on them. After a rough start the Trojans are getting hot and making a late run at a regional spot. Grant Green is healthy and raking, freshman Ricky Oropesa is stepping up and the lineup isn't striking out nearly as much. Brad Boxberger continues to be one of the conference's best arms, while out of nowhere Andrew Triggs is pitching well on Saturdays and Robert Stock has been lights out since moving to the rotation a few weeks ago.

The Trojans took the first two games from a top 15 Oregon St. team this weekend after a great start by Boxberger on Friday and a pair of ninth inning doubles to break a 2-2 deadlock on Saturday. Now SC will go for a sweep that will have them right in the thick of the regional picture. The biggest issue for SC right now is their RPI. Chad Kreuter watered down his schedule in hopes of racking up some early wins, but it didn't happen. Now that mediocre out of conference schedule is combining with a really poor Pac 10 to kill USC's strength of schedule and RPI. SC entered today #63 in the RPI. If they can get into the top 50 or 45 they will have a pretty good case for a regional bid.

Thanks for the Head's Up!

Honestly, I followed the disastrous start of the season with moderate interest, and then shut Trojan baseball out of my world. I will take another look. Shocking turnaround. It was looking like Kreuter might not last the season a few weeks ago.

Beaver fan here

I went to the game on Saturday and I thought USC looked great! After Sunday’s game, I wish you guys luck for the rest of the year.

By the way, I saw a few USC students at the game. I think it’s great that even though in College Baseball you have about 25 home games, that people still want to go to road games.

USC Baseball

Everything has really been clicking lately, but the pitching was really dismal for most of the season. Plus the Trojans went through a big time down stretch when Grant Green went down for a couple of weeks. I’ve never been a huge fan of baseball to begin with, and the little interest I had in the season was cooled by the really poor showing in the first half. Who knows though rye, maybe they’ve hit their stride.

Man, are we Trojans or WHAT?

Everything what DFW and LS has said, is me.

I’ve read, with a strong degree of interest simply because of Chad Kreuter and his ascendancy as HC/Manager of USC Baseball, the early media reports of our baseball team throughout the pre- and in-season games. It was majorly disheartening to read some of their WTF losses. One or two to teams I hardly ever heard of. Couple that, with reading about the other teams in the PAC 10, and I felt like I always do (being a Raider pro-football team fan. And. . . a GS Warrior pro-basketball fan. And a. . . ah- forget it! You get the gist).

Like DFW, I halfway thought Coach Kreuter was gone. Sooner, rather than later. I buried USC baseball so far back in my mind and interest, I didn’t even read or check out any of the more recent Fanshot posts regarding their unfortunate early season.

Got to hand it to you rye, you’re truly one of the best. Both here at CC and over at “the blog which shall not be named”. (FTR: I now go only to BN for your posts regarding Bruin stuff and for an occasional “incendiary” post regarding ’SC-related stuff here and there)

I really mean it rye, you’re a good egg. I’m glad we “share” you. (now if only we can get you to go to post-graduate school at ‘SC! Law? Business? if Medical. . . that’s out there in Boyle Heights- – -not many hotties over there, I mean. . . not “as many” as there are in “South Central” ha-choooo!)

Comer4tide to Nico2.0: "How come I've never heard of any of your random songs?"
Todd to Comer: "Because if you had, he wouldn't listen to it. BOOM. Roasted."
Nico to Todd: "Shouldn't you be off voguing somewhere?"

I demand my credit for my share of ’SC flaming!

PS- Bix, how do you know Pulliam?

USC dropped the third game

The Beavers prevailed 5-4 in 10 innings. The Beavs took a 4-0 lead in the first but SC tied the game in the seventh with four runs of their own.
