Any Questions??? Taylor Mays is the #1 player in the Pac-10
Not really surprising but Ted Miller has a nice write-up as he concludes his serires on the top Players in Pac-10 for 2009.
No. 1
Taylor Mays, S, USC: The good news here is no one will disagree with this one. No one who regularly reads the Pac-10 Blog could possibly question ranking No. 1 the conference's only returning consensus first-team All-American, the most important member of the Trojans' All-Universe 2008 defense and the almost certain first Pac-10 player taken in the 2010 NFL draft. Oh, and the 6-foot-4, 230-pound Mays also is the best all-around athlete in college football.
I am glad he stayed....

The Most Important 2008 Player???
Agree with it all, except the most important statement. At mid-season, I would have given that award to Ellison. At year-end, I would probably have given it to Cushing or Matthews. To Taylor’s credit, offenses just didn’t test him very often. And, he came through when they did.
Mays as free safety changed offensive game plans
Because no one would go over the middle. Period. He allowed Ellison to play the Rover, and allowed Rey to blitz. When was the last time we say any team regularly score or move the chains with deep post patterns, like the kind we used to kill Penn State in the Rose Bowl? Have to go back to the 2005 season.
Wanna know something weird?
A lot of non-Trojan fans think TayMay is a “dirty-player”. A “head-hunter”. Another, in the long line of coddled, pampered, and favored Trojan football players of recent years.
Man, I just got back from visiting with friends and relatives in the Bay Area and I can honestly say (for the average to hardcore sports fan living in the Bay Area)- the USC TROJANS have gone way past the “welcome mat”. Meaning, whatvever “awe” or “respect” they’ve enjoyed from a non-pro-Trojan bias. . . .it’s now officially OVER!
All my friends and dudes I met over beers, think Rey-Rey is a slob/sloth, Cush is a wussy, TayMay is dirty a’la Jack Tatum of Raider-lore, and our entire defense from last year was WAY WAY over-rated.
I’m not kidding. None of it even comes close to the truth, I know. But. . . . what are you gonna do?
Remember, we had to defend TayMay for that hit on the WR in the Rose Bowl???? TRust me, other people on other sites feel the same way about our beloved young Mr. Mays. People just don’t have the slightest idea about that awesome kid. They don’t!
Comer4tide to Nico2.0: "How come I've never heard of any of your random songs?"
Todd to Comer: "Because if you had, he wouldn't listen to it. BOOM. Roasted."
Nico to Todd: "Shouldn't you be off voguing somewhere?"
