Bennett Leaving WSU for UVA

Shocking if you ask me...

Story Here...

Washington State University men’s basketball coach Tony Bennett surprised his players, his assistant coaches and the school administration Monday by accepting an offer to become the head coach at the University of Virginia.

Bennett told returning players and coaches about his plans at a 2 p.m. meeting in Beasley Coliseum.

“I was so shocked,” said freshman guard Klay Thompson of Bennett’s announcement.

A source close to the situation told The Spokesman-Review the offer came up over the weekend and though the decision was a tough one, Bennett decided this was the right move for his family and future.

Not sure  what he is thinking, I mean UVA isn't exactly a basketball powerhouse in the ACC. They will take a beating at the hands of the top schools out there.

The guys over at Coug Center are obviously pissed and scratching their heads...I guess I would be too, Bennett had the world by the tail.

Go figure...

Pretty damn good coach, leaving for Virginia? Now, he’s just gonna get smacked even worse in the ACC. Maybe he saw what he had, the returning players, the uphill mission for the Cougs in the PAC 10 and decided getting stranded in Pullman sounds a ton lot worse than being given a “chance” to build something in Charlottesville?

Who knows?

Comer4tide to Nico2.0: "How come I've never heard of any of your random songs?"
Todd to Comer: "Because if you had, he wouldn't listen to it. BOOM. Roasted."
Nico to Todd: "Shouldn't you be off voguing somewhere?"

Kind of screwed the kids that he recruited!

Hey maybe Cam Dollar gets a look at that job, he would be a nice choice or maybe Bobby Braswell might be looking for change.
Hey I here Tim is being put into Memphis pot if he goes I hope SC gives Bras a look.

I'm sure

his decision was motivated by a whole lot of money thrown his way.

Thanks for posting this....

Charlottesville and the ACC vs Palouse? Sounds like an easy decision to me. UVA is a great school with a fine hoops heritage. Anyone remember Ralph Sampson? UVA is a much, much better job. Congrats to Bennett. His style will pose problems after a few years recruiting in the ACC. And, one dangerous Pac-10 team down. Bad for the conference, but better for SC’s run to the conference championship next season.
