Fairfax's Renardo Sidney commits to USC
Not the best kept secret but I got confirmation on this yesterday.
Here is the link from the LAT...
Renardo Sidney, a 6-foot-11 center from Los Angeles Fairfax considered one of the top college basketball prospects in the nation, announced today that he has committed to USC.
Sidney, who moved to Southern California from Mississippi in 2006, is averaging 24.0 points, 10.2 rebounds and 1.4 blocks for Fairfax (24-3).Sidney still must take the SAT to gain athletic eligibility next season. The earliest he can sign a letter of intent is April 8.
He'll become the third consecutive McDonald's All-American to join the Trojans, following O.J. Mayo and DeMar DeRozan.
I will believe it when I see it. There are all sorts of rumors regarding his eligibility so until I actually see him enrolled I'm not holding my breath.
On the other hand this is some good news after yeasterdays loss to Washington.

Rumors are just rumors....
Yeah, the rumors are swirling. But, I have yet to see any evidence of problems with this kid. He moved here two years ago from Mississippi. He supposedly has an entourage. His parents are meddling. The Reebok director of marketing introduced him at this signing party. He has yet to take the SAT. All I say to this is so what? I have heard that he is making good progress on raising his GPA, he has lost weight, he is playing great, and he is studying hard for his SAT. If my kid were a potential top 10 NBA pic with a multi-million dollar contract in front of him, you can be damn sure that I would be meddling too to help him navigate the seedy underworld of college hoops. I am presuming innocence and can’t wait to welcome Renardo into the Trojan family. You heard it here first….Trojans sweep the Bruins in 2010!
Well if he has the grades and sat or act score, then let the games begin!

He has three tries for that SAT score
Though the guy on Bruinzone is implying that Sidney’s issues weren’t academic.

His dad had a "Job" with Reebok
No doubt that’s what the USC lawyer was present for at the meeting between Renardo and the athletic department. I have a bad feeling about this kid. He just seems like he or his parents have and will take gifts.
I'm with frak on this one
As much as I dig on Renardo’s game, I wouldn’t mind if he follows Jennings to Europe. Isn’t that what Vaccaro advised for Jennings, and isn’t Vaccaro an “inside” guy for the Sidney family?
What I admire so much about Howland is that he won’t sacrifice his team or program for the attention he gets from one or ANY of his recruits. His recruiting, so far- has been something short of stellar. Scratch that. It HAS BEEN stellar. (the tradition of Pauley Pavillion can do that for a coach.)
Floyd, as much as I love him as our coach- doesn’t have that. He basically chose the curtains for the Galen Center and as such- the Galen Center is more Honda Center than Carnegie Hall.
With that said, I hope our Compliance Department vets EVERYTHING that has to be vetted- as it applies to Renardo, his parents, their “relationships” (from their veterinarian, domestic help, advisors, mentors, personal assistance, PR-people- to their “stylists” (Reebok, Nike, Addidas, et. al. !!!!!)
And this time. . . . . .NO SLACKING!
Comer4tide to Nico2.0: "How come I've never heard of any of your random songs?"
Todd to Comer: "Because if you had, he wouldn't listen to it. BOOM. Roasted."
Nico to Todd: "Shouldn't you be off voguing somewhere?"
