Dwight Lewis
Here is why he was benched after 6 min. Saturday!

This was supposed to be a message
that lights a fire under a player to motivate them. For Dwight to just be like “Eh, it’s fine, no big deal…” is not particularly encouraging. We shall see….
Wow is Kevin O the shytes or what, you got to love this guy!
I can’t remember the last BB coach that had the nads to do this, I really feel he is making contact with this real team. This team will play with heart, compassion, and control along with great coaching it will be a good year no matter how they end up.

Well...
Henry Bibby pulled the kinda same stuff…kicking guys out of practice on a daily basis. It didn’t turn out so well, as it can be a little over the top.
Whoa Joe
You take that back right now! Comparing KO to that low-life psychotic bRuin is something no USC coach should be subjected to, not even Bates!!!!!!!!
¡Fusílenlo, después veriguamos! - Pancho Villa
But they both acted similarly
BOTH coaches are known disciplinarians who are tough on their players. Sorry, but I can’t do anything to change that.
Then you should start calling out Ben Howland and half the D-1 coaches. The difference is Bibby was mean and vindictive; KO has not shown signs of that.

With a grain of salt
Those guys were loyal to Lute and wanted Lute back. Everyone at U o A was working behind the scenes to undermine KO
It’s early, but all of our players now say they love him KO has matured and changed, and acknowledged this in his presser.
I'm not saying K.O. = Bibby
I’ve been very complimentary of O’Neill so far and have even suggested that K.O. might be the guy to turn the program around. However, the benching of Lewis reminds me of the stuff that Bibby once pulled – benching guys and kicking them out of practice. That’s all I meant. K.O. certainly isn’t Bibby. We all know that.
I think most D1 coaches do that on occasion...
could be wrong, but think so.
Will be interesting to see if KO has any blowups this season. It will certainly be a big test. But, I am betting on KO to come through big-time. What I like about him most, I think……he is smart. Very smart and well-educated, and an educator as well as a big-time coach.
Joey the difference between KO and Bib is that KO is sane where Bib thought he was John the Son of Sam Gilbert Woodie.
Lets not get into Tim he has some strange style in making BB work. If you let a player get away with anything That looks like a challenge to the staff, teamwork, and continuity it will all go south, believe me I have been there.

KO woud have benched MB7
early in the season. KO has been around long enough to know not to believe his own bullshit.
Nice Move, Coach!
This is a great move by, what I believe will turn out to be, a great Trojan Coach. Dwight is a smart kid and capable of doing great things on the court, but he does need some coaching. If O’Neil can figure a way to help him reduce the streakiness aspect of his play; he will have a great leader. When Dwight misses a shot or two he can often let it get to him and then he starts slumping. Coach should run schemes to get him some easy inside stuff, early, to load his confidence.
Re:Nice Move, Coach!
Based on last nights play it looks like, for the most part, it worked. Getting Dwight into an early rythm is critical.
