Coaching changes not on the radar...yet

Just a quick blurb from the OCR...

We spoke briefly with USC coach Pete Carroll this afternoon, and the subject of potential staff changes came up.

Carroll seemed disinclined to make any, at least at this point, although he did leave open the possibility that NFL teams or other schools could pursue some of the current assistants.

"There’ll be a lot of movement as always," Carroll said. "We have some really talented guys. It’s all what comes our way, who comes after our guys.

"But we’re going to fight together and work this thing out together. … I think it’s clear. I think we can see where we are and where we have to go. Now we’ve got to battle to do this."

Carroll said he never would consider casting one or two coaches as scapegoats, which isn’t good news for all the Jeremy Bates bashers out there.

"I’m not thinking that way in any way," Carroll said. "We all have to do better and be more on it. Everybody in the program does. We’ll accept that challenge collectively and see what we can do about it."

All that being said, it still wouldn’t shock me if Carroll did make some changes in the offseason. He’s a head football coach. When things go wrong, that’s what they do.

Yeah, well...

It's early yet.
