GameDay Open Thread USC vs. Arizona
Arizona Wildcats at USC Trojans, Dec 5, 2009 12:30 PM PST
So, here we go...The final game.
Hopefully SC will feed off the emotion of the end of the ucla game and leave no doubt against a pretty good Arizona team. SC needs to stop Arizona's running game. The front seven need to keep the pressure on Foles and not let him get comfortable in the pocket.
Matt Barkley needs to show some progress today. He has to limit poor throws and he must not turn the ball over. I would like to see the running game take off today so that the pressure is off of Barkley to make plays...especially if he is struggling.
I expect this one to be pretty close...
So, Join us here. Leave your comments, questions and rants here!
FIGHT ON!

Yeah, we're going to have to get in sync pretty fast
But in all, not the worst start for the defense given the short fields to begin with, and the fact that they needed to convert a fourth down to get that TD
I Just Don 't Get It
We end Ucla game on a bomb, that get them by surprise, but we start this game with conservative play calling. The result is receiver bobbling the ball INt, F___ the OC calling period.
28---7 2nd & 11 Barkley to Williams, so please Bru-Babes call time out again.

different
arizona always plays us tough.
even in the championship years
no huddle- nice move, somewhat gutsy with freshman qb.
barkley not looking off secondary though.
stopped em
man was open, where is the safety help?
no pass rush, no stunts? are we that worried about draws
or qb running?
Very nice drive
Don’t mind going a little run heavy early on, with O’Dowd back and all. Wish we’d been doing that for the first two posessions.
nice pass- barkley looks around and reads secondary. good job.
these are things that have to be worked on everyday all season long
but i am still worried- team needs to wake up- no fire
6-0 Start?
Really? I understood in the graphic that it was Barkley with the 6-0 start. Apparently the announcers didn’t.
we have no good plays for 3rd downs
seems all our receivers are double teemed and theirs are wide open
I have an idea....
…how about we let Jeremy Bates take the afternoon off to go Christmas shopping and give the OC reigns to, um…i don’t know….pick a fan out of the stands.
Let’s see more of Havili, more Bradford, more tight ends.
Boy, looks like I’ve been missing a doozy.

I might get boo-ed but the way McKnight has played this season I hope he comes back.
But more BRADFORD!
I'd love to have McKnight back
And I’d love to see him used in space and to the outside. Up the middle is fine if our OL opens up big enough holes for him to make the most of his speed, but until then, run Bradford up the gut.
If we're gonna throw the ball
I’d really like to get about 5 yards with the catch, at least, and not rely on YAC to get anything.
Speaking of Bates he probably knew when he took the job that he would be leaving.
Is only on sidelines to collect large check and I hope he chokes on it.

I still think the big need is a strength and conditioning coach. We keep getting pushed all over the field. Good technique but no explosiveness or endurance.
Nice 3 and out – I’ll take the positives where we can

I’m starting to associate “Jared” with jihad and not in a good way.

Holy shit did Barkely just check down and through the short productive pass?

Nice screen there. Why not just keep working on what we can get?

Damnation too much room in the secondary
by DC Trojan on Dec 5, 2009 3:26 PM PST via mobile reply actions
Yeah
But I like seeing an aggressive blitz on third and long. Feels like the Old Pete.
I’ll take giving up a conversion deep in their territory if they manage to convert.
Our defensive pass rushers need Icy hot on their underarms

I'm pretty sure most people who haven't played QB
Still understand that it’s hard to throw something forward when you’re falling backwards. You don’t need to look over your shoulder for the Magician’s Guild for explaining that one.
Getting worried about the clock here – it’s not like SC can pile on quick points against this defense

Sorry but I don't think Barkley can do it, he can only see the primary receiver, and Bates is incompetent.

Can't blame PC's D
His defense only gave up 7 in the 2nd half
I don’t care who’s back on the offense next week, it won’t make a big difference.
Anemic is the word that comes to mind…

PS, Tough loss today. I was hoping you guys would make Stoops cry.
