GameDay Open Thread USC @ Texas
USC Trojans at Texas Longhorns, Dec 3, 2009 6:00 PM PST
USC takes on Texas tonight in Austin.
With USC coming off a tough loss to Nebraska at the Galen Center on Sunday SC has its work cut out for them as they hit the road.
Here is the preview from the LAT...
After a loss to Nebraska, this is USC's second game of the Big 12/Pac-10 Hardwood Series and the first of back-to-back road games for the Trojans. USC plays at Georgia Tech on Saturday. First-year Coach Kevin O'Neill thinks the games will help USC's development regardless of the outcome. "It's a good experience to go and play with these guys," he said. "They're both challenging. We'll have to play our best. We know it won't be easy, but nothing is going to be easy this year." Texas has won its games by an average of 27.6 points and the Longhorns have so much depth that 10 players are averaging double digits in minutes.
Texas is led by senior swingman Damion James, who recently became only the sixth player in Big 12 Conference history with 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. James is averaging 15.4 points and 10.2 rebounds. Senior center Dexter Pittman averages 15.2 points and freshman guard J'Covan Brown 12.8 points. The Longhorns' 52.0% shooting is eighth in the nation, and Texas leads in field-goal percentage defense (32.8%). Senior guard Dwight Lewis leads USC with a 12.3 scoring average.
With USC's depth issues they are going to have a real hard time trying to keep up with a very deep #3 Texas.
You see how tough the team had it against Nebraska. They looked gassed at the end. I would expect more of the same tonight.
So, leave your comments here.
I will catch a little of the game as it is on ESPN2.
FIGHT ON!

UW can't finish their game in regulation

I love Dwight
But I don’t love seeing him dribble the ball up court

Little miracles
Somehow SC made it to halftime trailing only by six despite some very mediocre play thanks to a couple of bricks. Also, none of SC’s players have more than two fouls. Nice job Trojans, you’ve given yourselves a chance.
33-27 UT at the half
Wait. nevermind
Marcus SIimons has three fouls.

100% Correct
Also, Marcus Johnson, Donte Smith, Evan Smith, and Alex Stepheson are a combined 0 for 14.
Basically neither team wants to win this one.

hmmmmmm
Stepheson looks like he doesn’t have any legs. He’s got to go strong when he’s down there. I mean he’s 6’9 and around 235. Make like Olivia Newton John and get physical!
Yah he needs to pump and then dunk

I'm at a total loss for words
This is the ugliest game I’ve seen SC play since that one against Southern Illinois two years ago. I think the final score was like 48-46 SC
Just mentioned Daniel Hackett...
Makes me remember when Tim Floyd tabbed him to defend Kevin Durant.
not getting a lot of calls

Really?
I thought the spread was 20. Yeah screw those guys, they didn’t even show any highlights of when USC dominated them in the NCAA tournament.
