The Big-10 is looking to add a 12th team??
Good luck with that...

Hmmm, Who Might it Be?
ND? If not, I guess they would have to steal a team from another conference. Pitt seems to be a perfect fit. Cinci doesn’t have the academic standards.
Could you imagine if the Pac-10 becomes....
Pac-12 North
Oregon
Oregon State
Washington
Washington State
Boise State
Cal
Pac-12 South
USC
Stanford
Arizona
Arizona State
UCLA
Utah
A man can dream, right?
How about both Utah schools?
Pac-12
North
Washington
Washington State
Oregon
Oregon State
BYU
Utah
South
Cal
Stanford
USC
UCLA
Arizona
Arizona State
I’d love to see this because Salt Lake City is a decent T.V. market, and it is growing as well. Plus, including both Utah schools keeps the trend of having 2 regional schools in the conference and places two teams with historical success on the gridiron in the conference – BYU won the ‘84 National title and Utah has had 2 undefeated seasons this decade. However, even with that said, I don’t see expansion at all.

It's not just about football
It’s about
1) Academic prestige
2) All other sports
The Pac-10 is a premiere conference in those two areas (yes, WSU is marginal, but for the most part…) and it’s not clear that the conference gains anything in those areas by bringing in Utah, BYU, Boise State, or any other “mid-majors.” The conference prides itself on the fact that they have the most national championships of any conference – will those other schools add to that? The most obvious answer is….probably not.
IT would be smart if ND went into big 10, but Pitt seems like the right choice.
As for the Pac changing I have felt adding BYU and Utah would be great, but BYU isn’t going to do it. Maybe FSU or Boise would work or even Hawaii, splitting the conference would help State schools in travel money.

I agree, we’re better off adding Fresno State and Utah, Boise will collapse as soon as Peterson leaves.

Wasn’t Boise going to collapse when Dan Hawkins left for Colorado? They seem like they got a pretty stable situation in place no matter who the coach is.

Middle of nowhere, Smurf Turf and lily white. it’s a more quaint version of Wazzu. They won’t be able to recruit top talent and will collapse under the weight of the rest of the conference. They survive on a steady diet of cupcakes and 1-2 big games a year because nobody on their team actually gets hurt or even tired.

The big issue with expanding the Pac-10
has always been about academics. Remeber the giant hoops that the Arizona schools had to jump through to join the Pac-8 back in the 70s? It’s not going to be any better now.
I think from a football standpoint, adding a couple of schools like Fresno and Boise would be ideal, but there’s no way Boise and Fresno (especially Fresno) pass academic muster for the Pac-10.
Yes and Pat is a first class coach, not like the Weasel and Peterson that have no control of players mouths and attitudes.
I mean would you hire some of the Bruin players wanting to fight and the kid that taunted the Oregon player.
