"I really wanted to go to a school where I can really make a name for myself, not just be the "next" star running back at a USC or one of those big-time colleges," Jones said.
The Early Words: Malcolm Jones Wins Gatorade POY - Inside UCLA
I guess this means ucla is not a big-time school right??
Tell me that sounded so much better in his head than it did coming out of his mouth...

Poor guy
That’s one of those instances where you know what you meant but the words didn’t quite come out that way.

Kinda like, . . . .
. . . .“Help! I’m trippin’ . . . . .and I can’t come down!”
Good one Paragon. I like your “sounded better in his head”. That shit is just pure comedy. Way better than what he actually said.

supposed to be a play on "Help! I've fallen and. . . .
. . . .I can’t get up!" (those safety things for old people?) At any rate, I made 48 of these shirts- (“Help! I’m trippin. . .”) for a Dead show series at the Oakland Coliseum/Sacramento StockYards. I sold them ’em all on the first show at Oakland. Traded for some tix to the Sac shows, nitrous balloons, pot, liquid, etc- I came out on top. Way on top!

Welcome to the Small Time, Malcolm!
Sounds like a great kid and I admire his resolve. Also, sounds like the quixotic immaturity of a kid who thinks he can change the world, and may wake up one day after a few years of eating reality sandwiches and realize that he didn’t know it all. That the higher profile program with supposedly better coaching and more prestige would have further advanced his objectives. Malcolm will learn the hard way.

Well, maybe he's wrong and can't change the world and he'll have the
same level of success as Jones-Drew. Or maybe UCLA coninues to improve, he comes in as a freshman and shines, getting aq lot of good pub for helping to restore a rundown program and he really does change the world. It’s not exactly farfetched to see UCLA come on strong as the recruiting improves over the Dorrell years.

The sun will come out, tomorrow!
Of course, 89, that’s what you should say. I stick to the party line by being cynical. I do respect the kid though. We’ll see what happens. Take off those baby blue-tinted sunglasses every now and then, eh.

Meh, another overrated Oaks Christian prodigy. One of these days OC should play somebody instead of feasting on little cupcake prep schools.
