I haven’t watched Cinci a lot but they seemed similar to ND with a heavy emphasis on spread passing.

seemed rather unenthusiastic on the ridiculous ESPN cfb awards show tonight. He said something like, “I hope Kelly can find a good defensive coordinator. ND hasn’t had problems scoring, but they just haven’t been able to stop anyone over the last few years.”

Good take. Kelly is a proven college coach, and seems to be a solid hire. Yet, he is another offensive guru a la Weis, and Cinci has not had very good defensive teams. Still, I bet he is better than Weis and gets ND back to top 15, BCS bowls again. Not sure he can take them to the championship level though without a defensive guru at his side.
