Here is one for all about recruit Tony Jefferson
"The UCLA players really disrespected me before the game," Jefferson said. "When they saw me, they were all cussing at me, telling me to never come around Westwood again and things like that. These were guys that I had hung out with before and it was a lot of the team. I guess I kind of see it since I was committed there and was wearing USC gear before their big game but I still didn't appreciate it."
The nation's No. 1-rated ATH will not take anymore trips. "Oklahoma is coming over Tuesday for a home visit. I'm sure USC will be coming in too but we haven't discussed it yet. Like I said, right now, the two are dead even and I really like both schools a lot. This whole recruiting thing has been crazy and I can't wait for it to end. There has been so many twists and turns but it should be over soon and I'll be glad when it is."
And it is said that after game he is going to USC

If you get him it's a good pick-up but LOL
at him complaining that the UCLA players were giving him a hard time since he was a commit and then wore USC gear to the game. WTF?
Teenagers just want to fit in, and the nice ones like being sociable.
One of my High Schoolers invited a best friend to last night’s game. The family is all UCLA; Dad, Mom and two older siblings, but the kid asked to borrow some USC gear which we gladly provided. Why would she wear C&G? She’s not into the rivalry (at least not yet), and just cares about her personal relationships and fitting in with friends. Dad, Mom and brothers just laughed when they saw one of their own wearing our colors.
The kid will follow her own path, probably to UCLA but she doesn’t hate USC. Some of the bruins around us were cursing like stevedores, and those kid’s didn’t like it one bit. They may have inadvertently created a Trojan. More on that in about a year, but for now say goodbye to Tony Jefferson.

No question teenagers just want to fit in...
but this Tony Jefferson situation isn’t that. If you’re committed to any school you simply don’t wear their rivals clothes to the game. It just doesn’t make sense. Also, we’re only getting Tony’s take on the encounter where UCLA’s players rightfully gave him an earful. SC players would have done the same thing if a SC commit showed up to the rival game in full UCLA gear…and no way Trojans would have commented that he “just wanted to fit in because he’s a teenager”.
From looking at the boards a lot of UCLA people hope he now chooses Oklahoma…I hope he goes to SC so UCLA can whoop on him for years to come.
You dudes couldn't whoop a wet #1 noodle, Please don't you get it you are Just ucla.

Thank you for the erudite comment EJB; I’m proud that my tax dollars helped develop your mind to such a brilliant SEC-like level.
Meanwhile the weight of UC(DMV)LA has practically destroyed the formerly nice Westwood area. Enjoy losing more of your prize recruits as well as your lousy basketball team.

What does the area around a stadium have to do with football?
Actually, now that I think about it there was a portion of the coliseum that looked like a total dump on saturday night, they were dressed up in baby blue.
Actually
The area around USC is better than it was when I went there. I never had anything huge happen to me in 4 years. I had my car broken into 1 time. I found the residents of the “surrounding area” to be nice people. Maybe they didn’t have as much money to move out to a better area, but they did the best that they could, and USC helped a lot of them by employing them, and putting their kids through college for free.
Maybe you just don’t like poor people EJ, but USC never gave up on the community. Maybe you would be better served to get to know the people that live in the “total dump” around USC before you dismiss them and their homes.
They are good people and that goes back to when the Rams played there and I would park on their lawns for a fair price, always brought them back something from game too.

I do live there.
I live about 3 blocks outside of Compton, and its a nice neighborhood. Nice to see that your respect for the underprivileged is non-existent. For you poor people are a joke. For USC and Trojans, everyone in the “surrounding area” is part of the Trojan family. I would give any of my neighbors a job over a bruin any day.

Lay off the 'downtown is a dump' comments
It makes you look like nothing more than a white flight evangelist, man. You’re not doing any of us any favors.
We all live in Los Angeles – there’s certainly issues with the safety and environment around downtown, but it’s a collective responsibility and it’s certainly not USC students’ faults there are issues downtown. Frankly, the work that’s been done to revitalize that area over the past 15 years is starting to pay real dividends and I really wish more Bruin fans would lay off the ‘downtown is terrible’ meme. It’s becoming less true, and besides, if you did think so, why don’t you do something about it?
I think he was referring to
why you didn’t choose to volunteer your time to help the underprivileged.
The kind of volunteerism this guy enjoys requires a white sheet and hood.

I wouldn't go that far
I just doubt that he has ever had to struggle the way that a lot of people in south central have struggled, or he might have had parents that didn’t raise him to be respectful of those who are less fortunate.
consider yourself warned...
we don’t need this.
If you think you are better than all of us the head back on over to BN and jump on their bandwagon…I am sure there is plenty of room over there for you look down on us…
Well that was an economical choice to I bet or you would have pick a better school than that.
What is Ucla it is a good school 20-25 rank, so does that make it special. It doesn’t look as if the alumni work with these kids, most go on working for Government, state, or city jobs. I know my cousin Graduated from there and went to work for Ma Bell, might as well gone to LBSU would have had same result and less of a drive.

For what info I would say Rival and Espn but for ratings it all doesn't really matter, they really don't know what they are talking about.
Good coaches check out the players they are interested in and go from there, any coach that just go for stars is a fraud.

Moreso with info
And looking at it, I think I’ll subscribe to rivals. But I agree, the ratings are very misleading

I subscribe to a few of them and would agree that rivals is just a little more objective. That said stay out of The Peristyle, most of those guys are nuts.

*Laugh*
“I guess I kind of see it since I was committed there and was wearing USC gear before their big game but I still didn’t appreciate it.”
Uh gee, you think? He’s lucky all he got was yelled yet. He pulled that stunt somewhere in the South or Midwest with Texas/Oklahoma or Auburn/Alabama and he comes back with a lot more damage than just a bruised ego.
I agree it was a bit stupid
You don’t commit to a school, then show up to a game wearing the rival’s gear. If you do that, you do that knowing that you are going to get some crap for it.
Well said, CAJason80.
I’m sure the kid will end up at USC. If nothing else you’ve got to like how the rivalry has really intensified!!
