Sorry Plaschke, but you need to check your math

Yes, it was only the first of UCLA's three timeouts, meaning if USC kept taking a knee, Neuheisel could have kept calling them and eventually gained possession of the ball with about two seconds remaining.

Down two touchdowns with two seconds left.

Bill Plaschke needs to think before writing. Clowns who'd try to bash Pete saying that UCLA had no chance of doing anything with 2 secs left would quote Bill.

Lets do the math: 3 time-out's, 54 seconds left. 3 kneels would only take 6 secs off the clock (2 secs after 1st kneel). Add 6-10 secs for the punt and you have 40 secs left with a punt in the air. It's not easy but stranger things happen in football (did you see Case Keenum pull it off in a minute down 2 scores?)

So one more reason why Pete did the right thing after Ricky wanted to play ball.

Let's see if Mr "This is Bruin Town" will admit his inaccuracy (just sent him an email)

I'd say yor right

and Plashke is a tool. In this case he is also mainly correct in his column (math aside). I think the analogy to Neuweasel as petulant child is brilliant. The look on his face when Williams caught that pass was priceless.

The bottom line is

There was a extreemely slim chance that Neuheisel could have tied the game if we continued to take a knee. We could have gone for another 1st down, and not go for the TD, but Neuheisel sent a clear message with the timeout. We took a knee on 1st down signifying that for us the game was over. Neuheisel called a timeout signifying that he wanted to continue to play. We were not in victory formation on 2nd down, and the bruins got caught deep. Neuheisel is to blame for the extra touchdown. He might not see it that way, but thats the truth.

I don’t think that Neuheisel thought he could win at the end of the game. I think he just wanted to get the ball back to show that he was going to play until the final second. There were a lot of other options that USC could have taken that would have been more easy on the bruins, but as we know there is no love between the two schools.

Before Neuheisel decides to call out Pete, maybe he should check himself for all of those speeches before the year started about “reeling in” Pete Carroll, and “having him in my sights.” All that garbage and trash talk that Neuheisel threw out into the ether came back to haunt him yesterday. Think about that bruins before you call out Pete. He’s been taking all of that garbage all year long.

YAH he needs to look down under his G-STRING to see what is left.

The truth is Lavin was an Okay coach but I liked him because Bibby was beating him. I have known Ben since 1978 and when he got to Ugla I knew it was going to be a battle in BB. But know we got Kevin and I think he is better than my friend, and after 3 years we will know. GO Trojans

The problem - brainless fucla clowns

Will use the wrong “two seconds” on the clock reference and insist that Pete should have continue to call kneel downs. Bruin offense is no Houston Cougars but I watched plenty of weird endings this year.

Thank you for this post

Slick was looking for an historic comeback. Nice try.

Details are extremely important

Despite BP’s agreement with Pete’s reaction to Slick, his sloppy math would have you think there was no way the bRuins could launch one more offensive drive. Slick wanted to keep playing and would have had an opportunity for a moral victory (21-14) or “one of the greatest comebacks in college football history.”

Plaschke is not on anyones side

His job is to get people riled up. That is why he is taking a contrary position to almost all of the other writers in regards to the last touchdown.

Umm

When was the last time he missed a USC home game? Face it, he’s the USC beat columnist, and most of his writing is little more than cheerleading. At this point I almost feel sorry for him. No matter what he does, longing for approval from USC fans, he will always be the guy that pointed out UCLA was #3 in the country and USC was 2-6. It’s pathetic really.

You are soooooooooo Wrong he is not the SC beat guy Plaschke is a jerk for all teams.

Why do you think you know all, you are such a punk.

Whats your point here SBM?

I could care less if BP has been to a million SC games or a million ucla games…what does it matter? do you think it clouds his opinion?

Really…you mean he is not a robot? He has human tendencies and biases like everyone else.

No Shit?

Really…what else are you selling?

Please tell me you have something more to offer. Please tell me that for all of the rational comments you have made in the past that you are not going to go do the path of a conspiracy theorist…

by Paragon SC on Nov 29, 2009 4:02 PM PST up reply actions

I'm merely pointing out that

the way he’s constantly painted as being slanted toward UCLA is baseless and inaccurate. Sure he’s biased and it affects his writing (which tends to be drivel even when it’s not biased), and it would be silly to pretend otherwise.

by SuperBruinMan on Nov 29, 2009 4:07 PM PST up reply actions

Most of what these guys write is drivel

BP, TJ…

heck when I was living in DC even WIlbon and TK wrote a lot of crap over the years…

I don’t even read the NYC papers so I couldn’t tell you who is good or bad…

They all have natural biases…crap Wolf is an alum and his writing is so far skewed against SC that everyone knows he writes that way so he can TRY to look unbiased….

These guys are slanted to what attracts readers…its the nut jobs out there that think they have a slanted bias towards one program or another.

by Paragon SC on Nov 29, 2009 4:43 PM PST up reply actions

I don't think he is ucla biased

I think he will write about whatever will get him the most readers. If it means he has to write an article that USC fans are going to love, and bruin fans are going to hate, then thats what he will do. Plaschke is no friend to the Trojans, or the bruins. He is all about himself. He is a reporter with his own agenda.

When ucla won 8 in a row

Plaschke wrote about how great the bruins were. When USC is on a good run, he writes about the Trojans. His opinions depend on which way the football wind blows.

What an unbelievably clown-ass argument

Heaven forbid the columnist for the Los Angeles Times attends the games of the games of Los Angeles’ nationally ranked college football team. He’s got some nerve going to Laker and Dodger games as well.

Dear Bruin football: try not sucking for a change and maybe columnists will start to come to and pay attention to your games again. There’s only so much lipstick the Times can smear on UCLA pigskin.

Unbelievably succint! Rapier-like action, super good fun!

I “approve” of Clown-Ass Argument statements and protestations on this Trojan (USC!) blog-site-thinga-ma-hang-out-place. These views don’t reflect those of the owners, principals, or CLOWN ASS PERPETRATORS! But. . . . they might reflect those of CC’s “Regulators”. (anyone? anyone?) Forum and discussion to follow.

HAIL, YEAH!

Way to go, Champ! Lovin’ it! Lovin ALLLLLLLL OF IT!

I’m kinda worried seeing as I’m at this cross-roads with stuff right now? Put another way, I’m thoroughly confused as to rightfully determining my most favorite part of yesterday’s game? I liked some of it. And LOVED parts of it! But still? There’s was this constant buzz-like-pull-and-murmur that I felt throughout! Up and right about the very last part OF THAT BADASS TOUCHDOWN!!!!!!

Apeshit going outta my mind with a nappy-head of hair janky clothes that all of the sudden don’t seem to be “traveling-well” anymore! After that, . . . . .?. . . .I’d say about 12 minutes thereafter- I was ruby-ed into a leisurely comfortable catatonic-state. like BOOM! All of the sudden? I’m a symptomatic narcoleptic! Night, night e’rybody!

Here’s the thing: when God blesses you with his grace and the state of grace inhabits you, if but briefly? Therein lies magic, and magestic qualities of patterns, or words, numbers, and dreams? Well, I experienced “magic” many times on this trip. I witnessed magestic minds and flowers as well as felt the elegance of life and love without shadows and rivers that doubt. I might never get back by tomorrow night. I gotta PRIORITIZE! Yup, that’s what I have to do exactly.

Yo, anh_sc79- can you tell? I’ve been on a cloud. And for once and without choreography nor plume of airs- the team made me very proud again, but like realizing that “your silent, but deadly – fart that you didn’t think smelled so bad- WELL NOW YOU KNOW IT’S WORSE THAN BAD! IT’S RANK!” That “too-good-to-be-true” ride you just fell off of is called, “The Bullshit Vamp”. I fall off of that one too. A lot.

Can these guys ever “operate” in real-time? Because their frequency always seems to be in “their-time”. What’s it gonna take for our boys to understand that: STUPID PENALTIES, YES!!!!! You CAN lose championships on those pesky stupid penalties!

Coach? He’s starting to become “another” issue altogether. And that’s so weird. His philosophy is to have little to no issues- God forbid you’re bringing one to the table? And so what’s part of our reality, right now- as we speak, write, and opine? BigBalls’ balls are too big. Too big for HIMSELF! In such a case, this particular individual is bringing “more” to the table than he is likely able to manage. read: ISSUE.

I better go to 6 o’clock Mass. I’ll ask about the “candle thing” and all again.

Recruit? Check. Will Roger that more a little later. We still gotta walk around with LB’s on our foreheads.

Coaching? What changes must be and will be made? Tell you what? To me, the coaching changes very little. Just allowed certain autonomy and independence. Must open up egalitarian- and less “fail-safe”, more “attacking” and aggressive.

Upperclassmen? Yeah, I know. Same thing. “Who are these m-fers?” Inquiring minds wanna way fucking know!

Competition or seniority? I don’t know either. Tell you what? YOU PICK! Stick with it and do what you gotta do. Tell me too! I’m on whatever board. Cool?

I used to think saying "Dexter McCluster" 6 times fast . . . . .

. . . . .was kinda fun? But boy oh boy do I ever enjoy saying, “BigBall’s balls, are too big! Too big for himself!”

Lordy, that’s some fun!

Y tu, Loco? Maestro, que no? Compa? (simon’ catcheton) Maybe I should just go back to sleep? I got kind of a drive and I think I bought some “bunk” coffee? I’m totally NOT feelin’ it, and I’ve had one bigmonstrosity-of-a-coffee already. Maybe someone has 3 cigarettes for me? And they’re walking right for me, to come find me.

I can sure put this coffee into turbo, if I start smoking some person’s tobacco. Hey! Hello, I remember you? Yeah, you’re right. You don’t look familiar to me at all. (who am I talking to right now? I prolly got lost at not letting go of getting jipped on expenisive crud-on-crap-coffee! doesn’t happen all too often, FTW?
