No and No...

Taking Chow would be seen a s a sign of desperation…Pete would never want to look like that

Maybe but I don't think Chow would do it unless Pete asked him, no way chow comes calling ( saving face you know) but you can never tell.

That would really spin the heads over at that UGLA site, there would be mass hysteria Dogs and Cats living together. The Squirrels would attack Chow before he could get off campus or maybe the Possums.

No and Yes

No, PC would not take him back. That ship has sailed. It will never, ever happen. PC has too much pride to admit the mistake.

Yes, Norm Chow is one of the greatest college OCs of all time. Perhaps USC’s biggest weakness is lack of a schematic advantage on offense. We used to have it, and lost it. Norm would bring it back.

There are 20 other excellent candidates to turn our offense into a weapon again. However, the first step is for PC to release control of the offense to the OCs. Until this happens, we are all spinning our wheels.

PCs insistence on keeping Barkley as the starter and comments defending Barkley and the offenses performance at the expense of the defense tell me one thing. PC’s hubris will kill this era. He won’t swallow his pride. He won’t admit an errant philosophy. The bubble has burst, and he is too blind to fix it.

Well there will be a coach available by the end of the season

that brings a “decided schematic advantage” to the offense. He will be coming off a head coaching job, so it might be hard to get him.

Yeah, Loco offered this hypothesis too

I say it’s almost as likely as Norm Chow’s return, but still fun to talk about. I would love to have Charlie as OC.

A more realistic choice would be this guy:

      Tim Drevno
Offensive Coordinator at Stanford.
He’s a local boy from South Torrance High and played football at El Camino College and Cal State Fullerton. He’s been at his craft for 17 years. His talent speaks for itself, but typically Harbaugh’s been hogging all the headlines.
Would he want to follow Jimbo to Notre Dame or join the Raiders? Even if Jimbo re-signs with Stanford, they’re too cheap to pay him his million bucks. That won’t be a problem at USC.

Charlie Tuna? Working for Pete Carroll?

My freaking gawd! Hi-larry-ous! That just made my morning.

There's a lot of scuttlebutt out there

about Colorado making a run at Mike Shanahan which could mean Jeremy Bates would be leaving after his one glorious year with us.

Meh...

If he wants to go let him go…

by Paragon SC on Nov 18, 2009 9:31 AM PST up reply actions   0 recs

That was a tongue in cheek remark

If Shanahan calls he definitely should go, and so should Johnny Morton. My big worry is that Bates goes and Morton gets moved up another step. That would be the death of us.

That would be a definite step in the right direction!
