CBS Sports BlogPoll end of week #7 - Draft
OK, so I got a chance to watch a few games yesterday.
I got a little bold putting SC ahead of UF...I am sure I will take some heat on this but UF has not played for all the hype I have been reading.
Texas stays at #2 because that was a rivalry game and they pulled through. That is the reason why I kept Oklahoma in at #25...they played great in the first half on defense but they just could not get it done.
So, fire away let me where I am wrong...

Texas & Florida look vulnerable
Both are out of synch on offense this season:
- U Texas has a new OC. Colt McCoy is their leading rusher in attempts, as he was last season. No running back has more than 300 yds rushing 1/2 way through the season. And, uncharacteristically, Colt has been pick-happy this season with 7 of them to 11 TDs. Out of synch, suspect running game.
- U Florida is running a one dimensional single wing hybrid. Tebow had 27 rush attempts against Arkansas, and has almost twice as many runs as the leading tailback. Florida has only 1 receiver with +10 receptions. Their leading catcher is their TE. Receivers caught 17 balls against Arkansas. RBs ran 19 times. Tebow ran 27 times!
Might these two powerhouse teams be focusing a bit too much on their Heisman candidate QBs? Both teams have become quite one dimensional without developing a supporting cast of offensive skill. It’s almost like both schools are trying so hard to win the Heisman for their QB that they have stopped attempting to run an effective offense. I predict that Florida loses to Bama in the SEC champ, and Texas loses at Ok St on Oct 31.
As for your rankings, Para:
+ Bama clear #1
- still can’t put USC w/ that bad UW loss over UF
+ totally like Iowa and TCU’s move up, and Boise’s move down (TCU might be the best non-BCS conference team out there)
- would have left Ole Miss, W Va, or Kansas out and kept ND in, although the polls didn’t either. ND played well enough to earn votes, IMO.
Nice job!
