Kevin O'Neals thoughts on season

Well I was reading the report of coach Kevin O'Neals the other day, he gives us some good info and hope for the upcoming season. The one thing that sticks out to me is his offensive ideals, we will score as quickly as possible. This attitude will be a welcome change for me, no more controlled boring offensive sets. I feel you will see more in the face defense and better blocking out on the boards, this should get the kids out and running. Coach O'Neill press conference transcript

I had no idea that USC

stil had a basketball team:-)

Seriously, that is a very tough situation O’Neill walked into…this is going to be in all likelihood a very bad year for USC basketball.

I wasn't feeling too bad about it

until Leonard Washington screwed up his grades. Washington rubbed me the wrong way as a fan. He punched that OU in the balls, and was always prone to displaying bad sportsmanship. Its not going to be a good year for us, but maybe we can squeak out a few good wins. We are kind of like the ucla football team that way.

Embellished

Did you watch that game, Frak? I was watching and rewinded a few times. While it did look in intentional, it was not a punch. It was so overblown by the media. It was a mild bump at best.

Trojan hoopsters finish at #5 in the top half of the premiership and surprise us all with a +.500 season. Alex Stepheson will have a huge season. Marcus Johnson, Nicola, Simmons all fill in the stat sheet and Dwight becomes a big-time scorer. And, when Leonard comes back, he dominates. Fight on, KO!

Hey Tex

you should come out to a game! Let me know.

I will

Been to some MMQB sessions at Galen, but never a hoops game, as we usually do our LA trips in the fall/winter. But, will let you know if I’m there. Can’t wait to see KO in action!

Lets be real

All it takes is a well placed flick of the wrist to cause extreme pain to the nuts. I think Washington made contact with the OU players jewels, and I believe that his pain was genuine.

Not a fan of CBT, I presume

Won’t elaborate there, but I think he was merely trying to bump the other player in passing, and accidentally got too far south ( long arms on Leo). Should bumps in hoops are a part of the game. I would call it either Grade 1 incidental contact, or a Grade 3 bump. Oh well, agree to disagree. I think Washington might have had a thuggish past, but is a hell of a competitor and can be a dominant D-1 player. I love his hustle and aggression.

I love his play

I hate his lack of sportsmanship. Review the Pac-10 Tournament game against ucla and ASU if you want examples of Washington’s bad manners.

youthful exuberance

KO will be good for him.

Maybe

He seems like a hired gun. I doubt he will come back if a pro team scouts him, or he has a chance of going pro somewhere in the world.

I don't like his attitude

and I wasn’t perfect, but I know I never punched anyone in the nuts when I was 20, and when someone offered their hand to help me up, I wouldn’t shove it away and spit profanity at them. Watch the Pac-10 tournament games again if you want to know what I’m talking about. The truth is Washington has a bad attitude. I don’t like it because it makes USC look bad when one of our players punches another in the balls during a game.

Okay thats cool, but I still support all trojans

Agree to disagree

I call it like I see it. These kids represent my school, and I would like them make us proud of their actions in victory and defeat. Maybe Washington will grow up, and learn to carry himself with a little more restraint. I hope he learns from his mistakes.

Don’t know if I agree with you on the OJ thing. I find that guy disgusting, but I own up to the fact that he will be forever linked to USC, and there is nothing that we can do to dissolve that link, and yes that includes taking all of the OJ stuff out of Heritage Hall. If we did that, there is no way that would stop the OJ jokes or references. He was a Trojan, he will always hold some storied history in USC football, and NFL lore, but the man is a walking piece of trash.

Put black tape over his name on that Heisman Trophy

by Locoweed 1.1 on Oct 18, 2009 2:12 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

No we can add letters to the front and back of his name.

No really I was referring to the Orange Juice sold at the cafeteria, or was it the basketball player. But it might have been Ollie Johnson from the movie Hoosiers, or was it the girl with the name tag Ojay at Hooters. I sorry I can’t think straight Tim Floyd is in town and I can’t remember the name of the Coffee shop to pick up my envelope.

Rec'd

OJ’s legacy stays…

He earned it at USC…his issues after football have no bearing on the discussion.

Shall we take Ty Cobb out of the HoF because he was a racist??

I will say this KO is going to let these guys play on offense and the dee will probably be better too.
