Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

Give Bob Stoops a month to prepare...

Wow. Way to lay another egg. The 49 yard field goal attempt was just the most flagrant example of not understanding your opponent. Watching Oklahoma show up woefully unprepared for yet another BCS game makes me appreciate Pete Carroll and company that much more.

Congratulations to the Florida Gators.  I'm not any more convinced that they're the best team in the country than I was four hours ago, but they earned the victory tonight, for whatever that's worth.

If tOSU get abused

For underperforming in BCS game, so should Oklahoma.

They haven’t won a BCS game since beating WSU in the 2003 Rose Bowl. That’s an 0-5 record.

Oklahoma

The Sooners are now the Buffalo Bills of the BCS. 1-3 in the big game. Ouch.

Lucky I didn't put money on Oklahoma

Because I really wanted them to win, JUST TO SHUT SOME PEOPLE UP!

But alas. . . .

Congrats to the Gators. The “real” champs. (for what that’s worth. now. —that was one of the dud-liest games in recent memory. TO’s, botched 4th down conversions, bad coaching calls, etc. -— NEITHER TEAM would have beaten us. that’s for sure.)

I think the problem is that the AP votes are due a few hours after the BCS title game

If the writers had time to think about it, they’d realize there was no way anyone but a serious Florida/SEC homer could rank the Gators higher than #3, and the only question was whether Utah’s undefeated season had more merit than USC’s superior performances in the games that they won.

So very true drothgery

Especially the “Florida/SEC homer” bit. I think the world has a bit TOO MANY of those guys. (that’s why I spent a week “spanking” one of them. it was fun)

Wow!

Oklahoma took a HUGE tumble. They finished 5th in the final AP. FIFTH!
Utah had a respectable (16) 1st place votes, and deservedly so.
Texas came in 4th in the AP voting.
USC came in 3rd, with only (1) 1st place vote- but must have received a lot of sympathy votes to beat out the Big 12 schools for final placing as far as scoring is concerned.

Sheepish too!

After they couldn’t convert that 3rd, and then 4th and goal situation. . . . his “Aw shucks! We’ll get ’em next time around-grin/frown” was the game encapsulated for the Sooners.

What was even more dramatic was when Meyer bowed his head in disgust at the roughing the punter call and his “pirouette” looking for someone’s head to knock off when Tebow threw that INT right to the LB’s numbers! I gotta big kick outta those two, as well.

B(C)S

Clearly the two best teams were not on the field that night, If I were to choose it would have been USC over Florida, Utah would have also have been a good choice.

Florida fans (and previous BCS championship winners) and the people in charge of the BCS are the only people in the world who support that stupid system. It just seems so idiotic that in order to determine a college football champ only 66 of the 119 teams are eligible to even be in the game. I dare you to name another sport where half of the contenders are not even allowed to be in a championship let alone win one.

My Rankings:
1.Utah
2.Florida
3.USC
4.Oklahoma
5.Texas
