Hey SC fans.

PSU guy here.

Just wanted to let you guys know how impressed I was with SC, your WR's really exposed our SLOW safeties and LB's.

The biggest problem with PSU is not having top flight players, it's getting Joe Pa to put them on the field.  Although I love being loyal to guys who put in their time, it hurts the team.  It's very rare to see a Freshman/Soph on the field at PSU unless there is an injury.  For example, PSU plays Hull and Sales at LB...those guys are solid but PSU is stacked at LB and our young/fast/best  players have to sit 2-3 years.

At SC, if you are the best...you play!  Makes sense to me.

Anyway - Sorry for the rant but this game really opened my eyes, if PSU want to really get "back" (pre 2000) they need to follow the SC mold and get away from the bend but don't break D.

Also - Thanks to all the great SC fans, although I didn't go been hearing mostly good reports.  Granted, there are jerk-offs everywhere but most of the PSU fans had a blast.  I am in the OC all the time, love it out there...keep up the good work out there.  You guys should be playing Oklahoma...SEC is over rated...just ask Utah!

Quick Question

Do you think that was a problem with Morelli, ie sitting potentially more talented under classman in favor of an entrenched starter? Or do you think Daryll Clark sat because he was being prepped to run a different kind of offense?

yeah, same problem with #14

An upperclassmen, paid-his-dues, loyalty thing.

Ahh...Morelli

Morelli had a ton of talent but the mental aspect never clicked…he was our Ryan Leaf.

He took over after Mike Robinson who ran the same Offense in 05 that we ran in 08, both years we has excellent years. After MRob left, they switched back to pro style (06/07) with limited success. I like Clark, he had a hell of a year for a first year starter, although I prefer Devlin but that ship has sailed. I think the spread HD is here to stay, Clark in 09 and Newsome 2010 and beyond..

Question for the Pac 10 people, after USC who is the top 5 teams.

Basically in the Big 10, there is PSU, OSU, Michigan (usually), Wisconsin, and then there is a drop off w/ Illinois/MSU/Purdue. OSU has the best talent overall, probably on par w/ Fla, SC, Ok, TX.

Top 5 in the Pac 10 in recent memory (last 4-5 years)

Probably have to go

  1. USC
  2. Oregon
    T-3 Oregon State
    T-3 California
  3. Arizona State

Good copy.

Looks like the PAC 10 is have and have nots.

Obviosuly USC is on another level, then Oregon/Cal/Ore State in the top 30 nationally, then a big drop off.

Kinda of like Big Ten…OSU, PSU, UM, Wiskey…top 30 teams but no real top 5 programs. The conf really S’d the bed lately, the real national players are SC, FLA, TX, LSU, OK.

To be honest

There has been a much bigger gap between USC and the next few then between Ore/Cal and the rest. In the last 7 years, WSU, UCLA, OSU, UO, Cal, and ASU have all been near the top of the Pac-10 a few times (Cal and Oregon most often). But in those 7 years, there have only been three teams (apart from USC’s) that have really been BCS quality.

Right now it’s USC and the 7 dwarves, with the Washington’s tagging along behind.

Great game, USC

The better team won – obviously.

Rematch next year (hopefully), with more on the line for both of us.
