UPDATED...Kennard to USC!!

In one of the more anticipated recruiting announcements DE Devon Kennard chose Usc over Cal and Texas.

It was long suspected that Kennard was a lock for SC but when Nick Holt went to UW and with David Watson not being retained that kind of threw a monkey in the wrench and it opened things up for Cal. I never really saw Texas as a threat Cal was the one that had me worried.

It looks like coaches Seto, Norton and Franklin calmed the turbulence of the past month.

well, this is a disappointment for Cal fans. He seems like a smart kid and very nice. Cal was in great shape with Follett coming off the monster year and an opening to start right away. Some think he might have chosen USC because they allowed him to choose between DE & OLB. Whatever he does, I hope that knee holds up. Meniscus tears are fairly common and usually recoverable, but having your first knee surgery in your teens isn’t a good thing. Hard to argue with choosing USC given their on field and NFL success. Best of luck to him!

Very excited to hear about Kennard’s commitment. Beyond his great physical prowess the kid just really seems to have his head on straight. Imagine if Kennard decides to play OLB and we can somehow get Teo as well as Burfict? Absolutely sick potential at the linebacking position.
