Utah for AP #1!

Hey, I enjoyed the Rose Bowl as much as the next guy (at least the ones not wearing Penn State shirts), but it's hard to argue with 13 - 0 and a solid solid win over Alabama.

I think they deserve it

In the system that we have today, Utah proved that they can compete with anyone. Their defense gave up 3 points off a 52 yard field goal, and a touchdown off of a turnover in their own red zone. The only other Alabama score was a punt return for a touchdown on special teams.

I have to put them ahead of us. They dominated their opponent in their bowl game, and they didn’t hiccup on any of their games this year. Give them the AP national title.

Not to mention

I think they had 8 or 9 sacks, 3 interceptions, and a fumble recovery on defense. Wow.

In my book...

Utah, USC, the BCS title game winner, and Texas if they win should all get AP #1 votes. There’s no coherrent argument for any one of them, and no playoffs.

True...

… but given close shaves against TCU and Oregon State, it’s hard to see where there avoid slipping up somewhere on a BCS conference schedule. I’m a playoff advocate, and I even thought Utah was going to win, but that’s mostly because I thought Alabama was massively overrated.

TCU and OSU

are both good teams when healthy.

BCS DECLARES GERMANY WINNER OF WORLD WAR II: USA Ranked 4th

After determining the Big-12 championship game participants the BCS
computers were put to work on other major contests and today the BCS
declared Germany to be the winner of World War II.

“Germany put together an incredible number of victories beginning with
the annexation of Austria and the Sudetenland and continuing on into
conference play with defeats of Poland, France, Norway, Sweden, Denmark,
Belgium and the Netherlands. Their only losses came against the US and
Russia; however considering their entire body of work—including an
incredibly tough Strength of Schedule—our computers deemed them worthy
of the #1 ranking.”

Questioned about the #4 ranking of the United States the BCS commissioner
stated “The US only had two major victories—Japan and Germany. The
computer models, unlike humans, aren’t influenced by head-to-head
contests—they consider each contest to be only a single,
equally-weighted event.”

German Chancellor Adolph Hitter said “Yes, we lost to the US; but we
defeated #2 ranked France in only 6 weeks.” Herr Hitler has been
criticized for seeking dramatic victories to earn ‘style points’ to
enhance Germany’s rankings. Hitler protested “Our contest with Poland was
in doubt until the final day and the conditions in Norway were incredibly
challenging and demanded the application of additional forces.”

The French ranking has also come under scrutiny. The BCS commented "
France had a single loss against Germany and following a preseason #1
ranking they only fell to #2."

Japan was ranked #3 with victories including Korea, Manchuria, Borneo,
Taiwan, Viet-nam, and the Philippines.

Good stuff – not the first time I’ve seen it, but it’s worth a repeat viewing.

I voted

And a “yes” vote it was.

Utah went Trojans on the Tide, in the 1st quarter at that! That was some pretty awesome football when they started scoring, sticking, and flat-out manhandling.

They absolutely earned the nations respect tonight. Only crazy-people didn’t fully appreciate their 8 bowl wins in the past 10 years.

Hi! I’m one of ’em.

But after today’s game, I just got off that bus full of crazy people. (Mark my words, one of these days. . . . . .there’s gonna be a Hollywood movie. . . . .and it’s gonna be about Brian Johnson. He’s had one helluva collegiate career and some insane celebrity moments. And . . . .that marriage proposal he busted out a few years back? . . . on NATIONALLY TELEVISED PROGRAMMING? . . . this guy’s life couldn’t have been scripted any better! Sheesh. . .)

Uh

the marriage proposal was Ian Johnson, the RB for Boise St. Unless I missed something…

You know what? Fuck you Sports Gods, fuck you.

I think youre talking about Ian Johnson? of Boise State

He’s the guy that proposed to his cheerleader girlfriend after the victory over Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl.

My God, am I just totally blowing it today. . . .or what?

I think I already mentioned in your “Oregon State Won 3-0” fanshot that I’m STILL “with” my New Year’s Eve date from Wednesday. . . .and as such, . . . .well, let’s just say it’s been a totally awesome time- for all intents and purposes. I’ve whiffed at writing a few things, for lack of a better phrase. This girl’s got me all discombobulated! (get this, and SHE’S told me “It’s been the best New Year’s Eve she’s EVER HAD”. I know, even I had to ask, “Ever?”. . . .she assured me. and she’s quite firm in that)

I don’t really know what all this means myself, but that’s the truth of the matter. And I seriously haven’t been on top of my blog posts today. I’m sure I’m understating things a bit.

I think I need a time out. (again)

And a clue.

PS: you’re right, I did mean Ian Johnson. and I am a retard. he has nothing to do with Utah, and I take it all back. I am crazy-people. I mean, what would you do if you had a beautiful girl at your pad who is in no hurry to leave? And . . . . . .ah forget it. It’s kind of a “location-thing”. You gotta be where I’m coming from. I’ll leave it at that.

Ever ever??? Haha, sounds like a hell of a night…

Ooooh-weeeee! Hey impaulv-

. . . . . .SHE JUST LEFT! About 2 hours ago, to attend church. She’s a co-worker- and from Australia. Met her about 2 months ago, dated her a few times. . .dinners, coffee, some skiing. Yes! On real ski’s ????

We went to see Gypsy Kings on NYE, and no kidding!!! this girl CAN DANCE! Shit. . . . . shoulda seen me that night! I was lighting it up right there with her. Don’t laugh? I’m boogie-down m-fer! I got rhythm in me THAT I HAVEN’T even USED yet. . . .that’s how good I am! ;- )

Maybe not “Ever ever”, but if there’s anything close? I think we GOT TO IT, fo’ shizzle!

(I wish I had 2-extra thumbs. . . .so I can give her “4-THUMBS-UP” !!!!)

Hell. Of. A. Time. Indeed.

(and how was yours?)

Mine sucked! (well, compared to yours...)

Koreans don’t seem to celebrate either Christmas or New Years, so we were forced to do our own countdown in the middle of a crowded club… Still, it was with friends so it was a good time.

I took so.cal.native1950’s advice and didn’t drink&drive… We got loaded and terrorized the subway system…. :-)

And if she JUST left on Jan 4th… man, that’s a marathon… ;-)

this team deserves #1 votes...

No matter what happens in the Fiesta Bowl and the MNC game. Period. End of story.

Utah has an argument

And I think USC is as good as anyone. I feel the same way about my Texas Longhorns, although we sleepwalked in the first half against Ohio State and did some dumb things. I’m happy with the win, in any case, since I knew we weren’t getting a “split” title even if we won by 100.

Who wouldn’t want to see all these teams play each other in a playoff? I’d be willing to shell out the bucks for games like USC vs. Texas, Texas vs. Florida, USC vs. Florida (I know you guys are dying to face an elite SEC team), Utah vs. OU, so on and so forth. But alas, such logic escapes the BCS. We are just left with a lot of ambiguity at the end.
