Beanie Wells now "doubtful" for Saturday's game
From ESPN's Big 10 Blog:
Bad news for Ohio State today as running back Chris "Beanie" Wells experienced some soreness on his injured right big toe after practicing Wednesday night. Coach Jim Tressel said Wells is now doubtful for the game. Tressel had been concerned all along about how Wells would respond from the injury, but this has to be a bit of a surprise.
Get ready for a lot of Dan Herron, Mo Wells and Brandon Saine on Saturday night at the L.A. Coliseum.
I will believe it when I see it. You never know what kind of gamesmnshp could be going on. On the other hand Tressle and Co. might have known just how bad the injury was but downplayed to keep everyone in the dark...
It's anyone's guess at this point, Like I said gamesmanship.

75, 80? 100, 110%? Either, or.
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? Beanie might not play? . . . . . . . . . . . .Well, Kevin Ellison is sure gonna be burnt-up about this!
Here’s a blurb from Dan Woike’s post @ USCFootball.com, "Could they possibly want a 6-foot-1, 237-pound bulldozer, future first rounder, all-Big Ten, all-American running back on the field?
“Definitely,” safety Kevin Ellison said. “No question.”
It’s not the USC defense is full of gluttons for punishment; they just want Ohio State at its best with its best.
No excuses.
“You want to play against the best,” Ellison said. “They’re a great team. It’s great competition.”
Even with Wells, Ellison’s confident the Trojan defense can do its job.
“He’s big, fast and strong,” Ellison said. "It’s everything you’re looking for.
“But if you’re on your game, that’s that.”
Okay Kev! I’m drinkin’ what you’re drinkin’. Couldn’t have said it better myself.
Oh, but wait. . . . there’s also the quote from Kyle Moore (again, Woike’s post), “"We had a bye week so there’s a lot of energy. We want to get out there against a competitive team,” Moore said. "We’re still shaking right now.
“We’re waiting for Saturday to pop.”
Pop! That’s that.

Looking Forward to a Year of Excuses
Oh, that’s just what we need…
So when tOSU goes down we can expect to hear, “Yeah, but if BEANIE was in the game we woulda mopped the floor with you!”

You Might Think
That people would be getting tired of the whole Chris Wells 24 hour deathbed Vigil, but no. Even I am getting tired of all the USC-OSU on sportscenter. Thankfully the game is less than two days away, and I’ll post some pics if they let me take a camera on the field.

My bet is Beanie
is going to play. I don’t think that Ol’ Pete is fooled by this either. Not sure why Tressel is pulling this.
SC is going to prepare for him being in the game and I don’t understand why Tressel would say what he said about his condition given that revealing the truth about his condition will not help them regardless. From what I hear, insiders are saying that he’s going to play now.
Honestly, I can’t wait for this one. We gonna find out how good your team is.

Dude
Why does it NOT surprise me that you don’t know how good our team is or has been? (oh, you must be talking about this year, no?)

Well
Isn’t it a year by year evaluation?
Forgive my bias but Virginia wasn’t a true test, especially after struggling with Div. I-AA Richmond. I believe they were up by a score of 3-0 at half-time.
On the other hand, Ohio State hasn’t looked that good either, struggling with Ohio. Could have been looking ahead there and/or Beanie (or Beenie? I have no reason to know this) being absent was the cause.
You guys, under Carroll, always field a team that can take it but are we talking 2005 good or 2007 good? it’s all relative until after the season is over.
