Did anyone else know this was happening?
I guess there was a bit of a trademark lawsuit going on with the University of South Carolina.
The battle between the USCs has been quietly raging since 2002, when USC challenged South Carolina's application to federally register a version of the "SC" trademark for use on clothing and baseball uniforms.
South Carolina fired back with a counterclaim to cancel USC's federal trademark registration for its interlocking "SC" logo.
Game on.
Trial proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board began in 2006. On Friday, the Board issued a 93-page order in favor of USC -- the one based here in L.A.
OK that's great news....I guess.
I never really gave it a second thought because i didn't think it was an issue Man I should have went to law school because you know the general counsel's for both schools made a ton in billable hours.

Their website used to be
an almost exact rip off of ours. Its no surprise that the two schools want to fight. I always thought it was weird back in HS when I told people I was going to USC and they’d go “South Carolina?”. I’m from Washington State, you’d think people there would know…

That's hysterical
I was commenting over at Dawg Sports last year and one of the posters remarked that I must be jealous because I graduated from ”. . .the other ‘SC, SC jr, the fake ‘SC because MY ‘SC is older and THE ORIGINAL”. Honestly, I didn’t know (nor hadn’t known at the time) people in the South had the panties all tied up in a wad over the whole ‘SC/USC thing? I found it quite retarded.
Your experience, is just outright hilarious- in an oddball kinda way. (any chance there’s been an exodus of Southerners now habitating (sp) in the beautiful state of Washington?

They've been around longer...
but they changed their name to University of South Carolina about 25 – 30 years after USC was founded. So they’ve hardly got the claim to the initials. Besides, who the hell would be jealous of anything in Columbia SC?
