Earlier this summer Oregon Safety Todd Doxey tragically drowned in a rafting accident. Obviously his loss to his family is imeasurable and couldn't even begin to understand or explain it.
His loss from a football standpoint, while certainly not as important when compared to family, hurt just as much especially those on the Oregon secondary where he was an integral part.
Team captain Patrick Chung is going to pay tribute to Doxey in his own special way.
Rover Patrick Chung, the leader of Oregon's secondary and team captain, will wear jersey No. 29 this Saturday when the Ducks face Washington in the season opener at Autzen Stadium.
If you haven't read today's college football preview yet, we've got a story about Doxey's death and its effect on Oregon's tough and talented defensive backfield.
Go read the linked article in that piece, Very well written.
Very honorable and its the right thing to do.
