Alex Stepheson headed to USC
North Carolina transfer picks Trojans over other Pacific-10 Conference options, his mother says.
By Ben Bolch, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
Alex Stepheson, a 6-foot-9 post player who averaged 4.3 points and 4.5 rebounds as a reserve for North Carolina last season, is transferring to USC, his mother said today.
"He felt it was a good fit," Diane Stepheson said.
She said Alex made his decision Sunday night, choosing the Trojans after also considering UCLA, Arizona State, Stanford and California.
Diane Stepheson said the family will seek a hardship waiver to make Alex immediately eligible. Otherwise he would have to sit out a season in accordance with NCAA transfer rules.
Welcome Alex!!

Elite 8 Bound!
Sweet! I wonder what chance he has of gaining immediate eligibility. If he does, then we suddenly have a very Top 10 worthy starting six….Stepheson, Taj, Leonard….what a great frontcourt….and, Demar, Lewis and Hack in the back. Holy crap this could be a great year for hoops! Congrats Coach Floyd.
