Jennings is headed to Europe
Updated from earlier today and bumped - Paragon
I am not surprised nor am I disappointed, as he pretty much thinks the college thing is a sham, but he is making this move before he gets his test scores.
[...]Valle said Jennings will not even wait for his third standardized test result to see if he got a qualifying score after his second test was questioned by the NCAA. The results from the third test are due later this week.
"That's a moot point now," Valle said. "He's not going to the University of Arizona. Brandon plans on going to Europe."
II am not sure I have a real problem with this, he knows the one year mandatory rule is a sham that restricts his ability to grow as a player while the school reaps the benefits.
Some people think this is a mistake ($).
[...] But Jennings is not ready for the culture shock of playing overseas, for the challenge of playing grown men as opposed to over-matched high schoolers, for the huge drop in the NBA draft stock. Yet that might not be enough to deter him from skipping school. And in the long run, he might end up a lower-rated NBA prospect but a better player and more well-rounded, grounded person.
Be careful what you ask for, Brandon. You just might get it.
While Jennings can cry the NCAA a river and complain that the NBA and its players' association have treated him unfairly, there is no cheating the FIBA litmus test that awaits.
While others think it’s a smart move.
Why risk being the next O.J. Mayo, the USC one-and-done-er who was done in by sloppy ESPN reporting, a former, opportunistic friend/ex-drug-dealer and antiquated NCAA rules?
For talented, teenage basketball players, a slow boat to China is a better option than being the victim of award-winning gotcha journalism.
[…]Brandon Jennings, a former Arizona commit, is smart. Why play the silly game? Why pretend to be a college student for one semester when he can't even "pass" the SAT or ACT? Why let a jealous member of his posse do what Louis Johnson did to O.J. Mayo?
Regardless, in the end it's Jennings' choice. With the NBA not being an option, with no desire to go school and a very strong desire to improve his game this was the only move he could make
For the most part I like Gottlieb's work but the problem I have with what he wrote is that Gottlieb hasn't walked a day in Jennings shoes. Pressure is an interesting thing, you squeeze some people and they respond and focus others wilt under the pressure.
Money Players has a some pretty good observations on this linking to a few other articles. Make sure you give it a read.

Jennings
I thinks its an interesting decision to say the least. I thinks its very easy for all of these analysts to sit back and say what they think may or may not happen, but in reality it is more or less unprecedented for an elite surefire lottery pick from the U.S. to head overseas to play ball. Even if we had history to go on, who’s to say that Jennings case would necessarily be the same or different from the precedent.
Anyways, I’m getting a bit too needlessly philosophical. I genuinely think this can be a positive experience for him and obviously he must have had some good reasons for him to make this decision. It will be a fun story to follow for sure!

More power to Brandon...
what is the point of college for one-and-done caliber players? Might as well get paid while you wait a year. College as a basketball development process is highly overrated.
