Lance Stephenson update (BBall)
ESPN just reported that L.Stephenson has USC in his final 3. Lets hope Coach Floyd can land him. There was a rumor that LS is a package deal with R.Sidney, but it doesn't appear so anymore.
Lance Stephenson, ranked No. 4 overall in the ESPN 100, has narrowed his choices to Southern California, UCLA and Kansas, his father, Lance Sr., told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. The 6-foot-5 combination guard also had interest from Indiana, North Carolina, West Virginia, Louisville, Arkansas, Memphis and Seton Hall.

UCLA won't have a SF
There will be plenty of playing time for him if he comes.
The odd thing about this is that few UCLA fans really thought we were interested in him, few Kansas fans really thought they were interested in him, and neither school’s fans could understand why a top basketball player would be interested in USC.

Just curious...
how is he wrong. I have a hard time believing he’s coming because of the Mayo situation.
Educate me.

How Do You Figure?
Shipp, Holiday, and Mbah a Moute will all be gone by 09-10. That leaves Roll and so far he sucks.

A few points
UCLA SFs
Josh Shipp – current Sr.
Malcolm Lee - current Fr. (usually listed as a PG/SG)
Reeves Nelson - 2009 commit (usually listed as a PF)
UCLA Fans
Knowing what we do of Ben, I find it illogical that rumors are flying about recruiting players like Sidney, Tyler, and Stephensen. So until I see that an offer has been made, this is all hogwash.
The only contingent offer I have heard of is the offer of scholarship to Renardo Sidney by the coaching staff, contingent on his spring semester grades at Fairfax HS. And BTW, I am not even sure that this an official offer. Lance Stephenson has an official offer. Go figure.
Does he even have a UCLA offer? If he doesn’t, it may be a case of his choices really being UCLA or Kansas, and he’s putting USC on there because he has an offer and is trying to pressure Ben into giving him an offer too.
Kansas Fans
I will be completely stunned if this kid ever sets foot on campus. His recruitment is a true circus.
BayAreaJHawk (same thread):
Wow… I dont follow recruiting much, but I never thought we really had a chance to land him. One of 3 is good.
I always thought he would be turned off by our interest on Henry, although technically they can play different positions.
USC situation might turn him off, UCLA hmmm… they are UCLA, but they’ve already got a lot of stars recruits.
ramblinman73 (same thread):
USC?? Why?? The reason is for exposure I guess. I believe KU plays a heck of a lot more on Natl TV than USC and UCLA.

Now I get it
Yes, Kansas get more attention but not that much more than UCLA I just feel they have to many players at ucla. If they keep on adding they will not have enough playing time since Ben really only plays 8 so some will leave, these kids have very big heads.

Mayo
Do you really think anything will become of mayo situation? I think not for the NCAA cleared him to come to SC. I have been watching SC Basketball since 1968 and I really hope the does not allow any more one year players, because they really only ruin the program and I hope this kid doesn’t come to SC or R Sidney. They need get players who really want to be here and want a degree.

As long as...
the NBA has the policy in place that forces high school superstars to attend college for a year, there will be one-and-done players. It will also be hard to completely eliminate the possibility of landing one of those players, since they never announce in advance that they are only coming for a year.
