DeRozan Might Reconsider his Commitment to USC
I say fine…let him go elsewhere.
From The Times
DeRozan's father and older half-brother said today that the Compton High star, one of the nation's top-rated high school players, would consider requesting a release from the scholarship he accepted from USC in November.
"This is a good wake-up call," Jermaine DeRozan, DeMar's half-brother, said. "I'm just hoping SC doesn't get put on probation [If it does], I would get . . . out of there."Recruits who sign letters of intent are required to gain a release from that school to be eligible immediately without sitting out a season.
No sweat off my brow if goes elsewhere. No need for another one-and-done player who has to take his SAT’s a second time just to be sure he can get in to USC.
Yes, it’s harsh but why in gods name would we want a player who doesn’t have the guts to compete? I don’t care how good he is, if he goes we wish him luck bu I won’t lose an ounce of sleep over it.
Gotta hand it to Mayo, short of a championship he did exactly what he said he was going to do, put SC basketball on the map, done wonders in branding his name and now he’s done wonders for recruiting.
Thanks, O.J. is there anything else we can help you with??

I’ll repeat what I’ve said before, Mayo, Floyd, and Garrett deserve the benefit of the doubt for the amount of success they’ve brought the university, and until the NCAA hands down something concrete or the situation is cleared up a bit I support them all the way. But regardless of what happens with Derozan, you’ve got to feel bad for guys like Lewis, Hackett, and Gibson who have been with USC a couple of years now and are basically the core of the team. Especially Gibson, he almost certainly would have gone in the 2nd round and has really shown his dedication to SC hoops by staying another year.

Yeah I feel sorry for the team
If Mayo sends us down in flames you can’t argue with the logic that we did it to ourselves. There’s no excuse for letting Guillory around the program with his history of tampering. I don’t see how the NCAA is going to turn a blind eye to the fact that this guy was a regular at heritage hall.
As for DeRozan, I agree with Paragon. One and done just isn’t worth it.
Its always nice that the whistle blowers seem to grow a conscience after they get snubbed by a star athlete. Its funny that all the principals in this case are really going to escape harsh punishment. The only victims here are the players and coaches that followed the rules and might have to live with the sanctions due to the actions of the dishonest players, coaches, and agents.

One & Done..Not worth it????
So if DeRozan took us to the final four & left, you’re saying it wouldn’t be worth it. I bet our rivals across town would beg to differ.
I do agree with you when you say the whistle blowers have no problem corrupting the program & the second they are wronged they turn into media whores.

Yes I stand by that statement
If 1 and done means a final four with sanctions and probabtion, then yes…. its not worth it. I would rather have finished in 8th place in the Pac-10 than have this Mayo garbage sink our program for the next 5 years.

On other hand...
Maybe he’ll decide to stay and then the USC School of Music can get that Master P Studio of Turntablism building.
