Dawkins to Stanford

With Trent Johnson suddenly leaving Stanford there were a ton of questions as to Stanford's plan was to replacing him.

Well, after being shell shocked, not having a back-up plan and possibly losing a recruit they seem to have done well in hiring 11-year Duke assistant Johnny Dawkins.

Johnny Dawkins has accepted Stanford's offer to become the school's next basketball coach, sources have told the Mercury News.

Dawkins, 44, is a former Duke star who has served on the Blue Devils' coaching staff since 1998. He replaces Trent Johnson, the Pacific-10 Conference coach of the year who left this month for Louisiana State after leading the Cardinal to the Sweet 16.

This is a solid hire for Stanford and it helps the Pac-10 with having another strong coach.
