Byers gets a 6th year!
From the OCR.
USC senior offensive guard Jeff Byers had his request for a sixth year of eligibility approved Friday by the NCAA, allowing him to return to the Trojans in 2009 if he chooses.
Because he missed two seasons with injuries, he petitioned the NCAA for a “clock extension waiver” and his request was granted.
Byers has said that even if he received the waiver, it didn’t necessarily mean he’d return for a sixth season.
I have a hard time believing that he isn't coming back. Regardless, this is some great news as it anchors and already solid Offensive line.
You can never have enough experience there!

HUGE!
Awesome news on Byers. This kid is such baller AND academic. We give so much lip service to student/athletes and the APR, but when a kid like this comes through the program and goes through all the ups and downs he’s been through. . .? Makes me just more than proud at being a Trojan. I don’t know the word for it, but I’m “it” right now.
Congrats for Jeff Byers. Football player, yes. Student, HELL YES! And Trojan, thank God.
