Broderick Green Transfers to Arkansas
Anyone here surprised?
Story over on Scout.
After leading his team to a last-minute win over LSU in Little Rock, the day got even better for University of Arkansas head coach Bobby Petrino.
That’s when he got a call from former Pulaski Academy star and transferring USC redshirt freshmen tailback Broderick Green letting him know he will be a Razorback.
Green (6-2, 235) actually watched the first three quarters of Arkansas’ 31-30 win over LSU before heading to Greenwood to watch the Bruins win a berth in the state championship game.
“I had a great time at the game, called my family and talked it over and just think Arkansas is the best place for me, especially with my situation,” Green said. “I called the coaches and told them I was coming and they were excited.”
I have mixed feelings here.
I understand his family concerns, heartstrings being pulled can be a very powerful thing but I also know that if Green saw the field more that this may not have happened. I have my own opinions but at this point it is immaterial. He will have to sit out a year and while I expect Green to try and get a waiver from the NCAA I don't expect that he will get it because he supposedly talked to other schools...that doesn't exactly point to trying get home for a family emergency...just like Alex Stepheson.
Regardless, we wish him luck.

I don't know...
If Green would have stayed, in two years he would have been a junior and it would have been McKnight or Tyler in the more finesse role with him a power back. I just don’t think it was a very forward thinking decision, but the best of luck to him anyways.

Was it a forward-thinking decision
to come to USC in the first place?

understandable
Leaving aside decisions about waiting to start, some people just struggle with being at a distance from their family. Having spent most of the last 25+ years living 3 – 6,000 miles from family, I can say it’s not for everyone.

Joe/Broderick could have been the next Reggie/Lendale combo
He’s just not patient enough, but at least now he can get on the field and play.

Later, 5th string tater!
Two words, one name (WORD!), and a litany of lions in wait:
Good bye!
Marc Tyler
Allen Bradford, Adam Goodman (FB), Curtis McNeal, DJ Shoemate (FB, WR), Tyler Gaffney (2009 recruit/TB), Cierre Wood (2009 recruit/TB), Dasarte Yarnway (2009 recruit/TB – - what’s with THAT name?)
I guess these days, patience as a virtue . . . . .? It just ain’t got “that BLING”, methinks.
