Mike Moser Update
Apparently former Arizona Commit Mike Moser will likely decide between USC and UCLA on Wednesday night. Moser is an elite SF prospect and was impressed with SC's facilities on his recent visit to campus. Although it appeared that Moser may have ended up at one of his home state schools of Oregon or Oregon State, the two universities are now out of the running. Let's hope that Moser lands with us! Fight On!

Walker chooses ASU
Looks like the rumors were right.
Former Fontana athlete Demetrius Walker, the 6-foot-4 guard now playing for Phoenix St. Mary’s HS after his mother’s move from Southern California to Arizone for a new job, has signed with Arizona State today.
He’d earlier decommited from USC, or at least decided not to sign with the Trojans in this early signing period ending tonight, and take a visit to Arizona State over the weekend.
Looks like SC really didn’t have a shot once his mom took that new job…

Hard to say on Moser...
But apparently a lot of ucla folks think they have him all but signed, but a lot of people also thought ucla had all but signed Alex Stepheson when he was transferring so I guess you have to take that info for whatever it is worth. I also heard that USC really cooled on Walker after both Hill and Moser became available, and that may have lead to his switching his commitment. I really do not know how true that is though as it is a rumor at best.
As an aside, it will be interesting to see how this recruiting class ends up for USC. They already have some decent players in Derrick Williams and Noel Johnson, but if they bring in Hill or Moser along with Sidney they have a pretty talented group. Honestly though, I do not even know if SC is still actively recruiting Sidney.

Young Mr. Sidney
The LA papers have been writing about this young man since his middle school days, every SoCal high school basketball season starts and ends with this young man’s name it seems.
Is he really all that? (I’m asking that with all sincerity and honesty. If you believe the papers, it’s like he’s the second coming Kevin Love)
Moser would be a wonderful pick up. Can’t wait for the word on Stepheson. The more I read and hear about this kid, the more I believe we have a valid shot at the Pac 10 title. (I know, I know- it’s a team game. but this kid can crash the boards and hit that 5 – 15 foot turnaround J. i also hear he can get to it off the block! i don’t think we have one guy who could do that right now.)
"Oh, would you look at that! You see, I just checked. . . .and it's true. I'm out of nerves for you to try to get on. There'll be NO MORE talkin', feel me?" words I woke up saying coming out of a trip-ass dream the other night. -Bix

Sidney is that talented
but how good he is is up for debate. The guy has unreal athletic ability for a guy his size and has a great feel for the game. He is also out of shape rather often and lazy on the court. He also has had issues with teammates before. If he showed up on a college campus today, he wouldn’t be able to play more that 20 minutes against that kind of competition because he’s not in shape. If he got in shape though and started working on every possession I don’t doubt that he could put up 20-25 points and 10-15 boards every single game. He’s that talented. There’s alos the very real possibility that Sidney forgoes college and plays pro ball in Europe for a year. If anybody were to follow Jennings to Europe it would appear to be Sidney.
As for Moser, I think he ends up a Bruins, but I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if he went to SC. He loved SC’s facilities, but he was intrigued by Howland’s idea of playing him at the SG some of time because he thinks showing that kind of versatility can be a big asset when he goes pro. He also has made a lot of mentions about playing for a winner and going deep in March and while SC has made strides, UCLA is the premier program in the west right now. Yesterday I put the odds at 60% UCLA, 35% USC and 5% other, but some of the things I’ve heard lately has me moving that to 55% UCLA, 45% USC. Oregon St. seems out of it for sure now, although recent comments by his mom makes me want to throw that 5% other back in there.

I went to see Sidney play once
He was suspended for the game for getting in a fight with a teammate.

I think USC has a slight advantage on UCLA in getting Moser. He’s an awesome player would would be a great advantage for whichever school he chooses.
And I do think that Sidney is good. Maybe not quite KLove good, but very very good.

He was featured in Sports Illustrated in 8th grade
The fact that he dropped so far, like Taylor King, does not bode well.

Yes and he played at J Serra
And he left when they let go Coach Lewis, and if you have ever been to this HS it is a joke. It’s one small building and a soccor field accross the street, just another basketball factory for bad student but great players. I know that coachs look for the best but these kids who transfer like every year, I don’t feel they are team players and would not recruit.

It depends on who leaves after the year
Right now we have none left, but Jrue Holiday will almost assuredly go pro after the year and open one up. If we can get someone we covet we’re going to offer him, but he’s got to be a guy Howland really, really, really likes to get an offer at this point.

Thanks, I thought it was getting tight,
I know how Ben is that he has to play his way or the highway (he was like that on court), but will he start using athelites more? Because the forwards you guys are picking up nexted season are runners.

Yeah too bad
Would have been a nice get, but SC is still in the race for a lot of very good players so let’s see what happens.
