This week's nitpickery
Ohio State should not be behind Missouri. Oklahoma State (which has the same record, plays in the same conference, and beat Missouri) shouldn’t be behind Missouri either. Penn State should not be behind Boise and Utah. What the heck does Cinci need to do to get ranked? What the heck does LSU need to do to get kicked out of the top 25? And how is Tulsa still ranked after losing to Arkansas, given their schedule?
I might be going out on a limb here?
Now, I hope this doesn’t come across as BCS-elitist or anything. But, the way I see it, if you’re in a WAC or Mountain West or MAC conference and you lose 2 games- in this BCS day and age- you shouldn’t be ranked in the BCS Top 25. I’m not hating on TCU, but they just lost to Utah in a tough game- they’re 9 and 2 and should be OUT of the top 25.
Speaking of WAC, MAC, and the Mountain West? Unless you beat a few BCS-schools and remain unbeaten at this stage of the game- you deserve whatever ranking you get (way to go Utah). However, just because Boise St. beat Oregon in Autzen and remains undefeated- I don’t think they deserve to be “in” the Top 10. At “10” but no lower than “15” is where I believe a school with their record deserves to be.
No matter how you slice it- the SEC, PAC 10, Big 10, and Big 12 BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF EACH OTHER. One loss teams in those conferences who don’t play “cupcake OOC” games deserve better treatment.
I’m with drothgery- Tulsa and LSU deserve the door. Along with TCU. Cal didn’t do badly against us, they just didn’t capitalize on our mistakes and gifted field position. (the best defense in the nation had A LOT to do with that).
In saying that, Ok State got SPANKED. Of their notable wins- Texas A&M and Mizzou- nothing on their schedule reeks #16. And Boston College? Whatever, THEY LOST TO CLEMSON! Wait, there’s more as it applies to the ACC. THEY SUCK! I can see a 2-loss Florida State in the Top 15 to Top 25, but they shouldn’t get a sniff in the top 10 in the foreseeable future. North Carolina- there’s only room for one 2-loss ACC team in the Top 25, they should be out or somewhere from 20th to 25th. Now, on to the Big 10- of all those teams, Michigan St. looks like a tough match-up for anyone. I know, I know- they lost big to tOSU. But they beat some good teams that were on their way up before getting hit by all those badass Spartan shells. I like ‘em. So, the Big 10 deserves their 3 teams in the Top 25. The Big East deserves 2 two 2-loss teams in the Top 25 (hey now! I’m talking Cincy! They’ve been playing lights out lately)
The ACC doesn’t and nor does any 2 or more loss non-BCS conference schools.
In a nutshell, Cincinnati, Cal and Arizona deserve a little more CC love- the ACC and MountWest deserve less.
I can’t wait until the SEC and Big 12 Championship games. Someone’s gotta lose. All the better for The University of Southern California Trojans!
Win out and dominate. We’re deep down in it! (Go Bears!)
Fight On!

I hate to say it but...
SC should be lower, I think with our schedule and the way we played against Arizona and Cal we should not be ahead of Oklahoma and Texas. SEC and Big 12 are definately the cream of the crop when it comes to top college football conferences and it should be a good game -and not another Ohio St. blow out haha.
When the regular season is all said and done, taking in to consideration how Florida has been playing after that embarrassing Ole Miss loss they will beat out Alabama in the SEC championship game. This will set the stage for a BCS championship match up between Texas Tech and Florida. Either way the Championship MUST pit the best SEC team against the best Big12 team (especially since Penn St is likely out of title contention).
What I would love to see happen is for USC to play the loser of the SEC title game at the Rose Bowl, which will either be against florida or alabama. Then we can get those SEC homers to eat some humble pie. But knowing the people at the BCS selection committee they’ll probably choose USC and Penn st. not the worst but certainly not the best.
I love College Football
and I love The USC Trojans
FIGHT ON!!
I agree
I said it here last week. I just think USC has the weakest resume out of all the major 1-loss teams, and fair or not, they really don’t have much of chance to prove otherwise. They sure didn’t help themselves by looking shaky against Cal. Of course I am a Texas homer, but I think SC’s accomplishments just pale in comparison to Big 12 and SEC schools this year.
I think SC’s defense is awesome but that offense is just killing their chances. I wouldn’t be surprised if USC gets upset once more because their offense sputters and their defense gives up something like a paltry 17 points but lose anyway.

Nope. Uh uh, ain't gonna happen, Cap'n!
Ahoy their sailor, better batten down yer hatches o’er their in the Big 12 because “Bowl Season” is upon us. Yep. I would say, now’s about the time all y’all start LOSING SOME GAMES! (or feel y’all have been cheated-out of some, either way?). . . .And lo and behold! I agree! USC’s defense IS quite lovely.
So, you guys in the SEC and Big 12 FINALLY have a decent crop of talented quarterbacks in the same calendar year. Whoop-doo-wee! May I invoke the lack of DEFENSE the Big 12 and SEC are maligned with, as well? All those 60, 50, 45 yard plays. And TOUCHDOWNS! Exciting indeed.
Heard those T-Tech fans were HATING ON YOU LONGHORNS on “that” dreaded afternoon? Hey, if it can turn Lance Armstrong away from continuing to be a college football fan, all I can think of is, “Man oh man. Those Texas Tech m-fers must be some comprehensive a-holes!” . . .??
‘SC had a spate of PAC 10 pussies for a few games this year, this is true. But we’d still play anyone anytime anywhere. We wrote the rules and guidelines for that set of beliefs.
Win out and dominate. We will. (you’ll see)
"Oh, would you look at that! You see, I just checked. . . .and it's true. I'm out of nerves for you to try to get on. There'll be NO MORE talkin', feel me?" words I woke up saying coming out of a trip-ass dream the other night. -Bix

Yawn
I know you’re trying to be funny with your Southern drawl there… but fail. It was a little too much there so it kind of died. Try again next time.
I’ll try to navigate through that rather incoherent post…
Decent crop of QB’s in the SEC? Where? You got Tebow and Stafford. Snead is talented but still learning. Did you see Jarrett Lee?
The Big 12 has more than a decent crop of QB’s; it has a great one. There’s a reason defenses are struggling against such prolific offenses.
“May I invoke the lack of DEFENSE the Big 12 and SEC are maligned with, as well? All those 60, 50, 45 yard plays. And TOUCHDOWNS! Exciting indeed.”
May I then invoke the weak Pac-10 schedule that USC is playing? Stopping sputtering offenses isn’t exactly that hard, though I give USC due credit for obliterating some teams they should.
The Big 12 has more than a decent crop of quarterbacks. You’re talking about a great crop of QB’s. And that can skew defensive numbers a bit as teams struggle to contain such prolific offenses.
"Heard those T-Tech fans were HATING ON YOU LONGHORNS on "that" dreaded afternoon? Hey, if it can turn Lance Armstrong away from continuing to be a college football fan, all I can think of is, "Man oh man. Those Texas Tech m-fers must be some comprehensive a-holes!" . . .??
Indeed, and when we took down USC in the Rose Bowl, it sure was nice to see all these celebrities and bandwagonners just disappear. Bye bye, Snoop.
"But we’d still play anyone anytime anywhere. "
So would we and others. Unfortunately, schedules are normally set quite early, and you have to play your conference. It’s not your fault your conference sucks; it IS your fault you lost to one of them.
“Win out and dominate. We will. (you’ll see)”
Perhaps so. We will see. You better hope Oregon State loses one, because even I would think it is ridiculous that they end up in the Rose Bowl and you didn’t.
