As USCLink noted in the diaries tight end Blake Ayles (6-4, 255) announced his commitment to USC today.
"I like how they compete at USC. They say practices are harder than the games and that sounds like a lot of fun to me. I've got two former teammates, Aaron Corp and Michael Reardon, who have been on me every day trying to get me to come up there."
This a good verbal for SC.
SC also added JUCO Kicker Joe Houston from El Camino College. Houston will enter the fall semester as a preferred walk-on.
Joe then headed to El Camino where he was named Special Teams Player of the Year as a freshman for the #2 team in the nation. He was also a unanimous All-Conference selection.
Coach Carroll talked to Joe last spring about possibly enrolling at USC in the fall and Joe was able to complete the necessary academic requirements to be admitted to the university in time for fall camp.
The only reason he is coming is because of the loss of Mario Danelo.
4-Star DT Armond Armstead will make his commitment decision on July 30th.
"I've got some schools I am keeping in mind," he said. "My top schools right now are Arizona, Arizona State, Washington, Texas A&M, USC and Oregon. Those are the only schools I`m considering right now."
This kid is a stud and SC is in a good place to land him.
Earlier this month 4-Star OL Daniel Campbell committed to USC over Florida, and LSU.
As I have said many times in the past I'll be happy when they sign the LOI but it looks like SC is putting together another solid class for 2008.
