From heartbreaker to finger-cruncher, SC was beaten convincingly by Cal yesterday:
Right-hander Alex Rollin allowed only one unearned run in 6 1/3 innings Sunday as the California Golden Bears took its second straight game of a Pac-10 Conference series with the 6-1 win over the USC Trojans. Rollin scattered six hits and had to leave the game with a right hand injury after taking a Nick Buss line drive off his hand in the seventh inning.
One bright spot is the consistency of batting by freshman short stop Grant Green:
Freshman All-America shortstop candidate Grant Green (Anaheim Hills/Canyon HS) led the Trojans with a 2-for-3 afternoon. Green has hit safely in 25 of his last 27 games and leads the Trojans with a .328 batting average on the season. He has a current eight-game hitting streak and leads the team with 20 multi-hit games on the year (five games with three hits).
Final game of the series is today at 4 EDT / 1 PDT.
