OK, after Stanford there was a lot of heat flying around about USC falling from grace, John David Booty needing to be replaced, and which 2nd tier bowl game would we end up in. Where do you all stand now after watching the season play out?
For some this season is a disappointment. Once again we missed out on the big game by the slimmest of margins. It was a chaotic year for the pollsters with something like 10 teams ranked #1 & #2 losing over the last 2 months. USC could have fallen through the cracks, but the team took care of their business, and with a little help from the rest of the Pac-10, and a timely injury to a great Oregon quarterback, we are sitting on top of the conference again. I don't think USC has fallen from the top. We are in the mix every year, and will continue to be talked about in the post-season because we do one important thing every year..... we finish.
I'm glad that Booty won his remaining starts. Its hard to live in the shadow of Palmer and Leinart and not be compared to them every time you take the field. As a starter, John David Booty is 19-3. Thats a record to be proud of, and we should all pat him on the back for his efforts.
I'm very pleased that we are playing again in the Rose Bowl this year against a great team like Illinois. It should be a great matchup with their mobile quarterback against our stingy run-defense.
Though this season didn't turn out the way I thought it would, I have to say that I'm loving how it all turned out in the end. I hope you all did too.
