Flying High Means Falling Far

As with most Tojans I have been struggling with last weekends loss to Stanford. Losing Sucks, we can all agree on that. Sitting in the stadium, in my princely seats in the much maligned west endzone, I never believed we would lose. Maybe its the altitude in row 82, but util Prichard lofted that pass into the endzone I did not believe it. Sadly, it was true. I was angered by the sloppy play and mistakes. I was shocked by a loss to a 41 point underdog. As the peices slowly come back together I have had a few thoughts. We, as a fanbase are blessed. When I was at USC from 1996 - 2000 the idea that USC would return to any sort of national importance was laughable. I remember a couple of times having to listen to the game on the radio because it was not on TV. Image that. We all know the stats of Pete Carroll's run since 2001. Our Teams are talked about, our Tailgate is by far the best west of the Rockies.
But there is a cost. When you fly as high as our program has, you run the risk of falling. Like Icarus maybe we just got too close to the sun. It's been a tough week, Stanford, and now the Reggie Bush Scandal rears its head again. Take heart Trojans, we will survive. Its not all that bad. We have a game this weekend. I say we all relax, drink some bloody mary's at the tailgate and enjoy the day. Things will work out.
