Just for fun...

Shelby_super_snake_medium

I don't have many hobbies, work, family and this little thing I do here take up most of my time, I don't even have time for an occasional round of golf with friends or customers.

So when there isn't a game on that I want to watch I'll flip through the mass of channels that I have to if something catches my eye. As I have gotten older I have become more interested in cars. I guess it reminds of family members who have passed or times spent with various members of my family going to car shows Moto-Cross races and boat races.

The hot new thing on the tube is the Barrett-Jackson auto auction. They have been around for a while and their TV popularity has grown steadily. If you're into classic cars, muscle cars or just cars in general they always have a wide array of cars to catch your interest and of course cars that make you wish and wish and wish...

So last night as I watched the SC game on GameTrack I had the TV on and found Barrett-Jackson on the Speed Channel so I thought I would see if there was anything neat up for auction. Well, it didn't take long as they had a 1966 Shelby Cobra 427 SuperSnake up on the block.

Man, what a car! Only 2 were made and one was destroyed in a crash so this is the rarest of the rare.

The Super Snake has a monstrous 427cid, 800hp twin Paxton supercharged V8 with a super three-speed automatic transmission. In addition to use as his personal automobile, Shelby drove the Cobra in a running of the "Turismos Visitadores" in Nevada. In February 1968, Road & Track referred to CSX3015 as ''The Cobra to End All Cobras.''

Anyway, this car sold for an amazing 5.5 million dollars! Yes, I said MILLION! What I wouldn't give for an afternoon in the Nevada desert with that car.

Go to this link here to see this Beautiful car. The body style isn't for everyone but this is a true classic.

And the guy who bought it was probably an SC alum!! Just Kidding ;-)
