The Carolina March...College Football Playoffs

Our friends at Carolina March have put together a little plan for some fun in trying to determine the best team college football using a simulated play-off format.

I get to break down the proposed game between Florida vs. Notre Dame in the Boardwalk Bowl.

#2 Florida vs. #7 Notre Dame

The key to this game will be the performance of each teams defense. Notre Dame has shown that they can be exploited in the secondary and at times Florida has looked a little weak against the big play.

  • Both teams have some explosive players on offense and know how to take advantage of those player's strengths. I have to give the edge to Florida with their 2 QB attack. Quinn is no slouch but I think the Florida secondary will do a better job of containing the ND passing game than ND containing Florida.
  • Notre Dame played a softer schedule than Florida and all those easy games didn't seem to help The Irish in their preparation for the season finale against USC.
  • ND's 2 losses were to top ranked teams, one at home and one on the road, while Florida's one loss was on the road at Auburn who at the time was playing pretty well.
  • There is no question that Coach Weis is a top fight coach but he has yet to win the big game at the D-1 level. Coach Meyer has been there before and has turned the Gator program around.
I think ND is in for another drubbing at the hands of another powerhouse as their defense continues to get burned. Florida 42 Notre Dame 17.

snap!
What was that? Oh, it was the sound of Reggie Nelson breaking Samardizja. That would be brutal.

And Tebow would leave the Irish safeties wishing for the comparatively mild embarrassment of not being able to tackle Jarrett.

Just getting my shots in now in case the Rose Bowl goes badly.
